Xfinity almost unusable

As much as we love Channels. Xfinity for us is almost unusable.

It constantly fails to sign into ESPN, NBC Sports, Bally Sports, Food Network and several others. I either get failed login, authentication error or channel unavailable. But, if I login to any of those specific apps using Xfinity credentials all
Is good.

Have you considered using a cablecard and PRIME instead?

I have. It pains me to give them any more money.

The only reason we use Xfinity for TV is due to my in laws in a lower level apartment. Or, I should say they use it. I just use the login as it is really nice having TVE in channels as unified guide.

If I could get them off Xfinity cable then Channels would be great for Hulu or YoutubeTV.

The other problem I have is 5 adults trying to watch TV, but Hulu and YTV have limited streams.

How is Xfinity with Prime and TVE are most channels available?

I can vouche for a prime & cable card combo. It works really well at my main location. TVE can help fill in the gaps of channels that don't come in on the prime. Every couple months Xfinity throws a fit over the TVE system and makes users jump through hoops to get things back.

I have a secondary location that uses TVE as the main source on a 2nd server instead of going remote. I do that because xfinity upload speeds stink, & I don't want to risk exceeding the data cap. It's very frustrating trying to deal with Xfinity though. So I feel your pain.

Most channels are available. There are a handful that aren't.

A few others I'm probably missing. TVE gets me access to 99% of what's missing.

The Prime has 3 tuners so it specifically will do 3 streams itself. Only way around it would be to get two of them & get two cable cards.

Thank you for you input.

I also have a HD Quattro. Can you then use the 3 prime tuners along with the 4 from the Quattro? No, I suppose I could not since the Quattro has the antenna in it.

I don’t use the Quattro for Recordings due to the Channels servers use.

Do you know if Xfinity is offering new cable cards these days due to the FCC rule changes last fall?

Yes. You will have 3 tuners you can use for cable sources, and 4 tuners you can use for OTA sources. Guide data/series will be combined if they match, and priorities for viewing/recording will be handled based upon your settings. Multiple hardware tuners—even from different sources—is normal.

The 4 tuners from the Quatro will continue to pull from your OTA channels. However they will not be able to be used for the Xfinity channels on the prime. But you can have them both in the channels app under the unified guide.

I got mine issued post fcc rule change. The employees don't know a thing about them because Xfinity won't train them on it. But I bet you could get one.
