Xfinity 'TVE' Audio W/ATV4

I actually use TiVo w/Xfinity CableCARD and I've no issues. It was suggested to me to look into the Channels product. I was interested in using an ATV4 for TVE vs using a Roku and the Xfinity 'Beta' app. What audio will the Xfinity TVE give me using my ATV4? PCM Stereo 2.0 or hopefully Dolby 5.1? Do maybe some of the TVE actually maybe provide different and it ends up being very dependent on the network? TVE Video is delivered as what? I'm using with a 65" 1080P plasma with a 5000CIE DARBEE.

I don't currently have a CableCard HD Homerun but maybe it's time to consider one. There's only the 3 tuner?

I appreciate any information.

TVE is only 2.0

You could move your cablecard to a HDHR PRIME and get a similar experience to TiVo that way. The 3-tuner is the only one in production and must be purchased second-hand on eBay, etc.

Thank you! I assumed 2.0 but was told to maybe expect different.

One other thing to consider is that Channels can’t access channels that are DRM protected through the Prime. How many channels are DRM protects varies a lot from provider to provider. Maybe others with Xfinity can give you an idea of what to expect.

Xfinity only DRMs premiums like HBO

I found this Xfinity response when searching Xfinity and DRM. There is a network called TBN Trinity Broadcasting Network (religious) that we used to be able to get in the Atlanta Xfinity system. It was on ch 11 and 1063. We noticed that on July 18th or there about it disappeared from the channels list. In looking at the HDHomeRun line up, both channels show DRM. Does not make sense for a nonprofit religious to be DRM. Who decides this the cable company or the network.

Any way we can get it back?

It is almost always the cable company who flag channels/broadcasts, although sometimes it is the network/event (such as PPV sports).

It is also possible that the channel was flagged in error. Only your cable operator can give you an answer.

Has there been any changes in TVE audio? 5.1 yet?

Channels has no control over the audio streams sent from TVE providers. As far as I am aware, they are all stereo-only primary audio (usually English) only streams. A few may transmit SAP/secondary audio, but I am not aware of any sending 5.1.

If you truly want multi-channel audio via TVE, then your best option is to contact the networks' support/feedback teams and let them know you want multichannel audio in the live web streams; that's the only way it'll happen.
