Why are fancy bits servers checking my DVR? Seems like an unnecessary nuisance having to open the port to all IPs temporarily every time I want to watch remotely. Shouldn't the client be performing the test?
It's a better user experience to present a page with an error explaining what's happening instead of redirecting to a host that isn't responding and having the browser timeout after a very long timeout.
how about running both tests and being happy when one of them succeeds? is fancy bits familiar with the OR operator?
