Anyone in the UK getting surround sound working via the Shield App?
If so does the program show up on the guide as being in 5.1?

Are you getting Surround Sound? How about in the official HDHR app?

Problem I have is that I can’t find any guide anywhere which tells me what’s in 5.1.
Anyone in the UK can confirm a programme on that’s in 5.1?
In the DVR web UI, you can access View Details about a recording and it will say how many channels of audio there are in the stream.
They are defo not live in 5.1 or recording in 5.1.
The only programme I can 100% say that broadcasts in 5.1 is match of the day which is on tomorrow night. Shall check on Hdhomerun app to see if it’s 5.1 on there.
I had the same problem with Plex live TV too, never sorted it out on that.
I don’t appear to be getting 5.1 on the Hdhomerun app either.
Have no idea what it could be. Everything else on the shield works in surround sound.
Just tried Match of the Day in HDHR app & getting DD 5.1 but in Channels getting PCM 5.1
Odd I don’t seem to be getting 5.1 at all in either 
How odd, This is what I'm getting but TBH it doesn't sound very 5.1, eg dialogue is coming out of FL & FR instead of centre. Is that normal for MOTD (I don't watch usually)
It’s normally out of the centre and crowd noise out of the rears.
Not sure my sound bar supports PCM so I guess this might be the issue.
Take it Channels doesn’t do DD by the fact your getting PCM. Although I could never get it working on Plex live TV and I’m sure that would be done in DD
I moved the MOTD recording into my Plex folder and its showing up on there in stereo to.
Would Channels record it in 5.1 regardless of the internal setup?
Yes the recordings are raw audio/video streams directly from the tuner.
Surely Plex should see it as 5.1 then?

I don’t know anything about Plex, but I suggested earlier you view the details of the recording in the DVR web UI to see what the audio track looks like. You could do the same with another utility like mediainfo or maybe even VLC.

I know that some broadcasts in the UK definitely use 5.1 AAC, but most are 2.0 AAC. In the past @gtg_cc has sent me some recording samples off of BBC where 5.1 AAC was being used.
Yeah that’s why I used MOTD as an example as I know for sure that it’s in 5.1.
Should be showing In the guide that it’s 5.1 too shouldn’t it?
The 5.1 sample I have is from a movie (John Carter), so that’s perhaps a better way to test.
