A recording with poor quality that fast forwards during replay - what does it indicate?

It's been hit-or-miss when recording my favorite shows over the air.
The same show on the same channel is sometimes recorded to perfection, while other times, it is unwatchable.

When a recording is unwatchable, it looks like somebody painted the screen in haste. Nothing is recognizable other than the vague color of what must be playing.

Another interesting phenomenon I've noticed is that the program will fast forward and skip minutes or even tens of minutes forward on its own. A 30-minute quiz show will complete playing in less than 3 minutes in some cases.

What does this indicate? Is it just another consequence of a poor OTA signal? Or is it a sign that the problem may lie somewhere other than the OTA signal - e.g., network bandwidth?

It indicates a bad recording.

Not sure why you posted this in Antenna Help, unless you know it's an antenna reception problem?

To start troubleshooting, you need to look in the Channels DVR log for HDHR signal stats and any interruptions for the recording. Also look at the recording details in Channels DVR to see if the duration looks right.
