ADBTuner: A "channel tuning" application for networked Google TV / Android TV devices

I pushed an update this morning (Beta: 2.0-Beta-20251114-1, Development: 20251114-1) with some proxy optimizations that might help eliminate occasional stutters during playback on some devices.

@mackid1993 this might have had something to do with what you were seeing. Please update when you can and let me know if you run into this again. Thanks!

I'm testing right now, there's definitely way less of a delay between what I see in the preview on my encoder and what's actually coming up on my screen.

I'm actually testing from a remote location now on my phone, so that should really stress the network, and that was definitely stuttering the other day. This is going over tailscale, direct stream, over the internet.

So far it seems good!!

I have plenty of time to watch TV this weekend, so I'm going to see if it buffers for sure!! :slightly_smiling_face:

Thank you for your help. Much appreciated!

I pushed a new build (Beta: 2.0-Beta-20251114-2, Development: 20251114-2) with a few additional tweaks. If you could test the newer one over the weekend that would be great.

I'm sitting at work with CNN playing at original quality on my Pixel 9 Pro XL over Tailscale as I work. I swapped from VBR to CBR a little while ago, and no dropped frames! I'm testing the new build right now and may try and push the bitrate a bit higher to see if it can handle 10 Mbps now.

I was also noticing some intermittent audio sync issues, so I'm wondering if possibly that'll be resolved now too with the proxy fixes. It seemed like a latency thing.

Out of curiosity does anyone have a JSON handy for Philo?
If not I will make one and share. I'm just curious how to obtain the Gracenote ID's?

You can use SLM or Olivetin to look that stuff up. As for a JSON for Philo, I think someone already post one above

EDIT: Found it

Its a lil old but theres only about 3 more channels missing you can easily manually add

So I was inspired by this and (vibe)coded a little batch file to lookup Gracenote ID's from one's own server!

Please let me know if this is helpful to anyone! You can either search manually for a channel or two or feed it a text file with a list of channels, one per line.

I hope this is a helpful contribution!

I think somebody is already 10 steps ahead of you on that front but it's nice to have another method for windows

I was bored lol!

Anyone else have their local channel deep link stop working for Paramount+, or is it just me? It now takes me to their 24/7 news feed instead. Showtime channels are still working, at least for now. Hoping this is a temporary issue in their software updates and not a new “feature”, now that they are under new ownership.

Also, finding the grace note ids from the grace note website still works. Used to found by the defunct zap2it website, but still can be found here:

https://tvlistings.gracenote.com/grid-affiliates.html?aid=orbebb

Right click the image of the channel you are interested in, and open it in a new tab. Gracenote ID can be found in the web address that was opened in between the two slashes after now showing.

@nateg My Paramount+ channels not working either. It says an app update is needed. I'll give that a try in a bit.

@nateg I did the app update for Paramount+ and all my channels are now working. Thanks for posting since I got the update in before I had anything recording on Paramount+

YTTV and Disney settled and all the channels are back in service.

The irony is I set up Channels because of this. I've been meaning to switch to Channels for years and this was my impetus to do it.

May I ask which device you saw this on? I tried an app reinstall before posting and still no bueno. Hopefully I see whatever app update you saw soon. I’m on all Google TV Streamers these days.

I updated on my ONN 4K Pro's which are used in ADBTuner.

Edit; they are all running android 14

Edit2; Before I updated I opened the app and it put up a message that the app needed to be updated. There was a download button I selected and did the update. All worked again after the update.

Got it. I too am on 14. Mine still not working, hopefully I see the update you saw soon. Thanks for letting me know of its existence. Not the first time Paramount broke things with software updates.

Here is a completed Philo json with the Movies & More package (that has REELZ). I have the legacy plan so AMC+ and Sundance Now are guesses. I also have not tuned every single channel (this has all of the FAST channels as well), so it's possible a URL could be wrong! The one shared before really only had non TVE channels.
Edit: a few FAST channels don't have guide data I can find.

Edit: These are now alphabetized.
Edit 1: Put back Sundance Now, and AMC+ that I accidentally took out when I alphabetized.

@turtletank
So I ran into some buffering again, but I believe I found a possible bug.
I had Tailscale enabled inside of Channels. I took a look at the logs and I noticed it was using the Tailscale IP for my channels instance rather than the direct LAN IP for the proxy. I'm not sure if that was making it worse. I'm still testing to see if I'm running into buffering. Also playing with bitrate as well to try to dial that in.

edit: part of my issue may have been setting ts once pack too high during troubleshooting.
