Anyone Else having a recent problem with Weather Channel on Spectrum?

Hi, I am running in to a problem with Weather Channel. It has been working very well since I first started with ChannelsDVR a few months ago. This problem has cropped up the last couple of days. This does not appear to be affecting other channels on my Spectrum account. In settings Weather Channel scans and rescans successfully. However when I view the channel on my ChannelsDVR server or a client (AppleTV and iPad) I am seeing a screen saying “get https://weather-lh.akamaihd.net/i/twc_1@92006/index_2400_av-p.m3u8: 403 Forbidden”. The other channels are functioning properly. And it was working fine for months. Please note the Weather Channel is functioning properly in the Spectrum App (so my credentials do allow me access).

My basic system specs are:
System: Acer Aspire TC-780A

It might have something to do with the Weather channel not having a TVE stream right now. Their website for TVE is under construction again: https://weloveweather.tv/twc/ I believe channels needs TVE to be working for the channel to play correctly.

Yep! I'm having the same problem with The Weather Channel on TVE wih Optimum!

I’m pretty sure it is because the TVE isn’t working for Weather Channel. The post at BBC World News channel missing from Philo talks about how Channels needs the TVE stream, even if the provider has their own online stream of the channel.

Nope the coming soon page has been there for 2 or 3 years now. It has nothing to do with the stream Channels has been using. The few times Weather Channel stops working it gets brought up that it says coming soon on that landing page but it's not the stream that Channels uses. Hopefully the devs get these channels back up soon. Weather Channel is down along with Science Channel at the moment.

Well that is an interesting and logical explanation. I was thinking that the Spectrum app itself was just a TVE player. But since I don’t know how the app works, it would be perfectly plausible that it’s channel feeds may not be TVE. Makes sense actually that it would be different as the Spectrum app Weather Channel also contains the true “local on the 8s” and local bottom ticker while the TVE feed I was getting only had the generic “on the 8s” and no ticker what-so-ever. Thanks for the link for that page about the construction. I hope it comes back quickly.

I did email my logs to ChannelsDVR support so I’ll post anything I hear from them.

Channels never says but I can definitely confirm it's not from that coming soon page. If you look back at past posts of when the weather channel stops working you will see that same thing gets brought up and the channel still gets fixed because as I said that coming soon page has been up for years now but weather channel on channels has been working all along. Normally channels devs don't even post a response when they get it working again. Users just post that it's fixed if you look at the past posts.

Same problem with Weather channel on Xfinity, it's not just Spectrum.

I think only the devs know and aren't saying.

The stream comes from a cached version of the webpage everyone is talking about. They took the website down but the stream kept working. Now maybe the stream is down too. Usually in the past it goes down and comes back by itself. Only time will tell. If the stream is gone then it's gone. Nothing we can do about it until they bring their website back.

Thanks for confirming that! I was pretty sure the stream was in fact coming from the TVE page.

Can someone take a look at this link and see if it is using a TVE stream that we don't know about. [link removed by poster]. I don't know if this will help with a solution to the issue, but wanted to point it out. For me it works on Edge, but I think my popup blocker is messing with it in Chrome.

This is not a legal site. I wouldn't use it, plus these sites are not supported by Channels.

I’m experiencing this issue today via Spectrum. The Weather Channel successfully reauthorizes but the stream fails to load.
