Atsc 3 dvr announcement

It is possible that it will not work with HDHR. However their app has the HDHR logo.

That screenshot wad just one snippet of conversation. I made clear the exact model of HDHR I am using. I have recieved a email from FreeView about the issue. In email correspondence the tech support person said they will look into issue. At no point have they told me HDHR is not supported. Then again they have not said it is supported. . .

Had anyone gotten hdhr to work with FreeView?

I was under the impression that they were going to have their own box with a HDHomeRun inside.

Yup. There website does not mention HDHR. It mentions Streamcast Home Box. Which lools like rebranded HDHR. Inside there app they use HDHR logo. . .

Im just waiting to hear back.

My guess is the HOME capability (HDHR tuner) is tied to your service subscription with them.
i.e. you purchased their HOME sub for the one time charge.

I would think you also need a SD guide subscription to use it as a DVR.

I am curious how they enable you to get local OTA channels in the FREE and PLUS plans if all they give you is an antenna (or three of them). FreeCast | Your Streaming Hub

Downloaded FreeCast testing on iPad and got the HDHomeRun QUATRO tuner to work as FreeCast Home channels.

Same here, I downloaded the app on my iPhone and AppleTV, it automatically detected my HDHR 4K Flex. Watching local NBC via the app right now .

Works for me on iOS too. Detected my PRIME. DRM channels show up but do not play.

HDHR DOES WORK

Customer support has not gotten back to me. I tested Freecast on my wife phone. HDHR was detected. So I figured it was just my phone.

  1. Force stopped app
  2. I cleared cache data
  3. uninstalled app
  4. restarted phone
  5. Installed app again
  6. Yay my OTA channels appeared.

Right now its nothing PLEX does not already do. OTA+Free channels and deep links to Streaming Platforms. When Freecast incorporates Sling/Fubo it will essentially be a cloud based version of CDVR.

I think software looks promising. I still prefer local server & local storage over cloud/online. But yes. . . So far i thinknthey are on the correct path.

It finds my HDHR 4k Flex with no issues. However, it can't find my HDHR Extend tuner. Which is a bummer, because that's on a different antenna pointed at a different DMA. Not sure how to force it to find that.

Edit: Ok, I found on the menu where you can choose EITHER tuner. However, there doesn't seem to be a way that it will integrate BOTH tuners into the guide AT THE SAME TIME!

You can only select one, or the other, not BOTH. That sucks!

Is this because browsers can not play TS streams, only HLS?

Browsers cannot decode mpeg2 or ac3. Only some can decode hevc. And yes most web player libraries implement HLS and DASH but not raw MPEGTS

Thanks for the image. I couldnt get the local channels, but thanks to your image i realized that i needed to load the FreeCast Home.

Automatically found my flex 4k channels

I can get my locals to come up on FreeCast Home on my Samsung Note 20 but not on my Nvidia Shield.

Anyone try Freecast lately. They keep sending my email to get their "Value Channels" $10/yr.

Is been a while since anyone mentioned them. Curious if they ever got the DVR feature setup. But not so curios to install freecast again.

I received that email also. Prior to that I was getting a 5.00 per year email. That deal expired yesterday.

I think you can only get the DVR if you buy the HDHomerun dvr device thingy. I don't think it will let you just record to your own HDD, at least not that I can figure out.

In my installation on FTVCube, HDHR4KFlex shows as 'local channels" icon under channels. The guide for the local channels [HDHR] only displays the atsc 1.0 channels, nothing 100 or above.
Interestingly I had to figure out that the the Freecast App will not detect my HDHR if my router based VPN is enabled. The VPN is configured to allow such communication and works successfully while enabled with HDHR App, but not Freecast.
Anyway, once disabling VPN I am able to test Freecast. There is a separate record option when I side the local channels guide [go to more] that displays my existing HDHR recordings and I am able to play them.
Guide is sluggish when changing channels, unlike "Channels".
There are quite a few channels available under the "free channels" [TV everywhere sourced?]
I can also add Philo, MAX, and Prime.
Overall not for me at this time, no 3.0 and performance lacking,
