BETA: Chrome Capture for Channels

In step 8 on the CC4C instructions, there is a link to an old version.

Well, I just solved this another way. I installed a Chrome extension called 'Video Maximizer' and all is good. Running the latest Chrome version.

EDIT: I just opened Chrome on my desktop and installed the extension, no edits to main.js or anything. When CC4C starts, the extension is working.

Do I need to go the Node route and modify the main.js to get this to work?

Yeah how do I even edit the main.js or whatnot to enable extensions?

When i type in node main.js it starts the chrome capture 4 channels.

You use a text editor. Only after editing the main.js should you node launch the program. Please review the complete installation directions above.

Is there any way of adding custom css to Chrome capture or have it use my main chrome profile with extensions?

I want to use the xfinity stream URLs in place of TVE but there's an overlay that doesn't go away without keyboard or mouse interaction. Stylebot chrome extension works but the Chrome capture feature uses it's own Chrome profile.

Just an observation, the video maximizer extension I mentioned above, I think I just added it to my main Chrome profile, but it also appeared and engaged when the Chrome capture tabs are called up. I also tried adding other extensions, for example, to increase volume, but those did not show up with Chrome capture. I'm not sure why.

I'll give it a shot. Thanks.

Another way to try it would be to start a channel which plays with Chrome capture and add the extension to the instance of Chrome that opens. I'm not remembering which way I did this.

hmm i'll poke around and see if I can find where to do this.

i followed the setup guide for docker on linux. I am able to vnc to the docker stack and open chrome and sign in to nbc. i am then able to run this url in my linux server while i am vnc to the docker http://(IPADDRESS)5589/debug?url=https://nbc.com/live i see the chrome window open in docker and it loads video on my local chrome session, however on channels client when i click to watch nbc it fails to open the chrome tab on docker i assume it would and i get an error message in channels the says Connection lost (-17) the connection to the tunner was lost. Please press play to try again. Any ideas, it does this to any channel including weather ones?

Which client version on what device?

Im running on samsung android as to test and its version channels dvr 4.6.5, i can test on a firetv if that might be a better test.

just tried on a firestick and got same error message connection lost (-17) i also do not see the chrome window open on the docker im vnc too. however i run http://localhost:5589/debug?url=https://google.com on the linux server chrome browser and see it open the chrome google site fine on vnc.

Re above with these connection lost (-17) errors, Didnt realize i was replying with my wrong gmail account
For what is worth my hardware is a small Intel Nuc i had laying around with IntelĀ© Coreā„¢ i5-4250U CPU @ 1.30GHz Ɨ 8GB ram 250gb ssd with external 2tb drive. dont seem to have issues running iptv m3u channels and TVE with optimum. I am testing all of this as i currently cut the cord as likely many of you here and have been using iptv smarters with an iptv service but saw channels and looked like the experience for the home would be much nicer. If i need better hardware i can upgrade.

Is there an option for escaping characters in the url? Specifically, it appears to be stopping on &. Can I escape &?

any ideas on a fix for this, could it be related to hardware not being good enough to do this?

can this be installed and ran on a headless ubuntu?
