Beta - Server Side Client Settings

Can we add kiosk mode as an override setting

Yep, that’s coming. Probably tomorrow.

I know it’s asking a lot but my wish is have my channel lineup sync with all my clients. It is tedious moving all the channels in the order I want them.

This is a different issue and concept entirely. We'll get to syncing lineups eventually.

It would be good to get the clients out of beta to support this feature. You can still keep the server side in Beta. That would enable a lot more testing since its hard to have many clients across test flight

Apps with server side setting support are waiting for review right now.

Now that we have server side settings, any chance of an option to hide the channel categories on Apple TV? I hate them!!

Also, I asked this before, but not sure if anything has changed.. Can we not get the up next top shelf icons to be the correct aspect ratio? It just looks broken.

Having said that, there seems to be a bug with the up next in the top shelf client settings. If I add the setting server side, it shows grey in the client correctly, however it defaults to OFF no matter what the toggle is set to.

When the setting is added, the description is the opposite of what is in the client. i.e. toggle on is hide up next in top shelf. Client is toggle on to show up next in top shelf.

First, thank you guys for enabling these server side settings. Fantastic work as always!

Under the clients section, I'm not seeing my remote clients. I have several family members who stream remotely from their houses, but I'm only seeing my local clients.

Are you planning on adding support to show remote clients? Do these server side settings apply to remote clients?

My remote (beta) clients do appear, but I suspect your family members are not running the beta. @maddox’s post about 2 above yours says that there are production versions in the review queue, so whenever your family members get the updates from the respective app stores they should show up.

Well that makes perfect sense, thanks for letting me know!

This has been implemented already (tvOS and iOS). It went out as beta earlier this week but was retracted due development flows. It should be available again later today on the latest testflight beta.

No. This is a tvOS limitation.

This has been resolved and will roll out in beta later today.

App versions with client support will be rolling out to the app stores today. Android TV and Fire TV clients are already updated. tvOS and iOS should be available today. We do a phased release so it may take up to 1 week for their apps to update unless they manually go to the App Store and update themselves.

The tvOS and iOS apps are now released to the store.

I'm seeing weird behavior with hiding channel filters on the latest TestFlight beta for tvOS, already sent diagnostics. When I set "Show Guide Filters" to Off and later reopen the app, the the guide refuses to populate for longer than usual and sometimes it seemingly never populates, resulting in the sidebar being stuck on the screen until I select On Now or some other page. Also, the "Show On Now Filters" will say it is set to the same On/Off state as the guide filters setting even though I never changed it, and the On Now filters stay present.

This is actually a different bug that just slipped out. It's on the release version too. We're working on fixing it and getting it out to both release and TestFlight.

Thanks, this is fixed and will go out along with the other thing.

yep I can see the public release clients on there now thanks

I am not sure if I need it but is there a way to prevent a client record. I know the scheduling section can be disabled but that would still allow a client to schedule it from the live interface

We can look into it. The ability to hide record buttons was added for Kids Only mode, so we can look at expanding it to an actual setting.

Yeah like I said I am not sure if I need it and it may not be required outside of kids mode so maybe get more feedback before investing time into it. Am just exploring right now.

What is useful is a way to prevent schedules being modified

Going off of this, could there be a setting to remove the filters on the guide?

My grandparents use Channels at their home and connect to my server. I've had to go over their house on many occasions because they "lost" their channels. If I could disable these filters on the guide that would save me some trips! Lol
