Change Theme\Color Scheme

It's certainly not a competition. Just happy to see a color other than purple and words you can actually read!

You may find using screencap with adb to be much easier.

adb exec-out screencap -p > screen.png

not really. dont have adb setup or in use on my shield. already have the capture box there.

dont think the Android TV os has a built in screenshot feature like my Pixel phone does.

Shield has a built in screen capture, but you need to turn the feature on.

I had disabled all the bloat apps and Nvidia things i could on my shield...
Re-enabled that.

I assume that, since this is a modded app, that it means it would be considered "unsupported" by the official devs as far as if any functional issues/bugs/crashes should come up. Even though, far as i have read, the only things being modded are certain theme color values?

So its, "use at your own risk" kinda thing.

THis maybe could be tagged under Hacks or Playground on the form.

I think all this will get overridden with a new release.

Only if you install an update over it.

On the Shield anyways, if u install the Channels Beta app via the option inside the app, it is side loading it, and side loaded app are not auto updated or managed by the Google Play Store app update thing. You have to update manualy.

I use the beta was just testing it out .. I rather use the latest beta ... like to keep up with latest changes.

Totally at your own risk and completely unsupported. I started a topic in the Hacks section and moved my post since it fits better there

Hope you don't mind, but i merged in the transparent overlay you designed into my own theme.

I already copied it from the WMC metro theme, so...

Some of the screenshots here are downright gorgeous! Hopefully with the new centralized "client"
configuration feature, we'll be able to set this in the not too distant future!

Is the ability to change the theme/color still available for the Android/Fire TV versions?

There was never an official way to change the theme or color scheme of Channels TV. Myself and a few others created our own copies of the APK and modified the colors after months/years begging the developers to add the functionality (to which they continuously refuse to do). These have to be side-loaded and in most cases, have not been updated to the latest official release.

You can find the Metro Blue version I created here: Android Metro Blue Theme - #42 by tobycth3

Or @AtoZ0to9 Carbon Black theme here: Channels Carbon Theme - #509 by AtoZ0to9

However, neither have been updated in some time (and probably won't be)

I saw @AtoZ0to9 having troubles updating his theme - you getting the same trouble with your theme?

Is the problem theming or just distributing the themed apks?

I haven't tried to update my theme since @AtoZ0to9 reported the issue. I usually only update it when there is a big enough feature release or major bug fixes.

The issues were with recompiling the apk. The developers had updated the sdk, and the tools had not been updated yet, specifically apktool.jar which is used for decompiling / recompiling. I'll have another stab at it soon. It made me pretty angry when it happened. Ended up taking it out on the developers, so while I don't feel bad because we shouldn't have to do this to change the colors, I suppose, an 'I'm sorry' is necessary.

Me so sowwy @maddox @tmm1

I started this thread almost 6 years ago and the devs still haven't made it a reality.

The community has already shown that it is possible and desired.

Please incorporate optional themes into the official release.

Hell, put it in the paid version only. Maybe that would encourage new subscribers.
