Channels Carbon Theme

yea. I have moved to Apple TV as well.
Kinda have to.
My new MSI monitor is 2K (1440p) and it seems the Shield and its Android TV is not coded to scale right with anything other than 1080 or 4K res.
Channels DVR app is useable, but the UI is off and much smaller looking, with issues that make it just too annoying to use.

Only reason i have not retired my Nvidia Shield TV, is that it supports Auto HDR10 in 2K res (in 144hz even), so if i play a HDR movie rip from Emby, it will trigger my monitor to HDR mode.
The Apple TV , refuses to activate HDR display mode from its Display settings, and even if it did, its a system wide setting, not auto. I don't care for HDR content, this monitor gets way to dark in HDR mode, thanks to local dimming feature that can not be disabled(if you want good looking HDR, I have been told get a high end tv, not computer monitor)

111.15.54 (has clock)

advice from users please. when navigating around the guide and something is gold or red and you hover over it with the guide cursor, it turns white. thats the current behavior. but ive been thinking of changing that. instead of turning white, it will just stay the light grey cursor color. thoughts?

I'm using it on my nVidia Shield (Android) so I don't have a cursor but I do get the various highlight colors in the program guide when I navigate through the grid and I definitely like having the different colors so you can see where you are in the grid.

I don't suppose you have any control or way to mod how the Channels app scales do you?

Not sure if Ui scaling is a predominately a OS level thing, or if apps have any way to control or have a different code for high DPI / High res displays.

I have not used my Shield in a while, cause it does not work well in 2K res.

The Channels app has UI issues in 2K res, things cut off, positioning etc.
Mainly in the Guide page the left most cells, the channel cells need to be wider image scalled right, it is cutting of the channel number too, and the thing that changes the sort Favorites, HD Channels etc, also is cut off.

Just wonder if you have any idea if it can be modded to look correct in 2K res.

Here is what the guide looks like:

That's an issue for the Channels devs.

Not necessarily...unless you have experience modding the apk and know what can and can not be modded. Many would say it is the issue for the devs to make different color schemes, but, yet, a user was able to edit it and make their own.

I'm sure anything is possible, but is the necessity enough to justify the costs, and for who. I don't have any 2k displays, and don't plan to get any. I'm not gonna mod the app past my own needs. Sorry, I don't have an easy way to do that, mainly because I only have a rudimentary understanding of how it would be done, and the amount of time involved in learning and implementing it just doesn't warrant the effort. I'm not sure the devs even have much desire to work on that specific functionality either, since it's such a small use case, even with the SHIELD. Especially with the SHIELD. If it ever does get another major Android update, to AndroidTV 12, the process of implementing themes, better support for 2k would change because of Material You theming. I imagine the devs are waiting for AndroidTV 12 to become mainstream before any 2k, or 4k UI support will be implemented in the Android app.

understandable. however...

the mobile phone screen are already higher than 1080p, i had a LG phone several years ago with a 2K screen. The Pixel 3 XL is 2960 x 1440 and the 6 pro 1440 x 3120, they scale fine with the Channels app.

so, don't really understand why it is neglected on the TV platform version or why they would not already scale right. Guess blame Google?

You could create a new thread with a description of the problem and instructions on how to reproduce it. I am not familiar with 2K res on the SHIELD or how to enable it.

I mentioned it i think in the shield thread at some point.

my reason to ask here was already mentioned, if the user that makes this color mod version can also mod the UI scaling.

he said, in so many words, nope. so...that answers that.

I just want to thank you for this theme. Great job

Thanks man. It started as a spare time thing cause I hate the purple, and then decided to share, and now it's just 5mins merging some files over for updates.

For all the filelinked people, there's a Filesynced app now, I'll be using that from the next update on for an easier way to update.

Ah. Is that a restaurant?

It has been so long....I recall going to one of those places, long long ago...in the before times.

 :upside_down_face:

(the last time i went to a sit down, eat in restaurant was late 2018, a drive through/pick fast up food Jan 2019)

$25 an hr, thats very good. People have far more stressful and exhausting, gruling jobs that pay far less.

Anyway, your career decision thoughts....not the best place for that here on this form.
Such radical off topic swing may trigger certain mods to lock the thread.

Thread pruned. Not because of devs / possible locked threads / off-topic, etc.
I probably don't need videos of me at work performing tasks with such precision, efficiency, and skill to be posted online, for fear that it could jeopardize the internet as we know it. I'm not sure the rest of the world is ready for it.

Anyways, 111.27.1640 is up.
Filesynced is a no-go, it's riddled with ads.
