Okay then you need to find and disable the firewall on your Mac until the url loads
Please also click Help > Submit Diagnostics on the TV after seeing that error
Apple has been enabling 'mac privacy' by default on their latest releases (not sure if tvOS is also affected). But if it is, it will now generate a new mac address for each connected wifi SSID. If your router has filtering rules based on the mac address, they may need to be updated.
I turned firewall off on iMac nd still no luck... send you diagnostic from iMac? Or ATV? And by the way, this started when I updated from iOS 13 to iOS 14
iOS 14 is definitely affected by the new mac privacy. Is your iMac connected via wifi?
yes, with a New Nighthawk MESH router....
If your ATV is connected wifi it may be the random mac address feature needs turned off for your wifi connection to your router.
Mac address privacy should not cause a problem.
Maybe you have peer to peer Wi-Fi access disabled on the router. If it's a new router then that's probably the change that started the problem. There must be some setting on there preventing your devices from talking to each other.
Look for a setting 'AP isolation' on the guest network settings and make sure it's disabled.
Unless you have set up the old 'mac filtering' options.....
Ill check, but I didn't change ANYTHING but update the iOS in the ATV...
Oh Oh... I rebooted the MESH system from the phone app and its working... kinda.
Finally... thanks EVERYONE for the help.... yay!
I wasn't able to access my Channels DVR server and it turned out to be a java runtime problem. Once I updated java, everything worked again.
AGAIN, my Mac or ATV updated and I cannot for the life of me find the IP address of my Mac... PLEASE HELP... where exactly do I look?
You can open Network Preferences on your mac and it shows your IP there.
Looks like it’s 192.168.1.5, based on that screenshot. If that’s your server setting a static IP will prevent it from changing. I would recommend doing that from your router, you can usually create a dhcp reservation so that it gets the same ip every time. Somewhat advanced.
Yes, those are the IPs.
So http://192.168.1.5:8089 will open the DVR web UI
Looks like previously it was 192.168.1.4. You can login to your router and setup a static dhcp reservation to ensure the IP doesn't keep changing.
