Channels just deleted 114 of my movies

My parents were complaining about a few movies not working, went to check it out and clicked on manage recording database and 114 movies were listed as missing/deleted. I go back and check and nowhere to be found on my HD. What gives?

thats about $500 worth I am absolutely livid about this

Wow sorry to hear about that ... did you check the logs ?

Check the logs, perhaps your parents deleted them without realizing what they were doing.

It appears that happened to another user ...

Channels SHOULD NOT be a file manager for imports - Channels DVR - Channels Community (getchannels.com)

i dont know how to do this

thats great it wasnt these all seem to come off my Playon Library

Bring up the web admin on your laptop, then click on "SUPPORT" then "LOGS" and scroll through and read the entries. For instance, my web admin is here, replace the IP address with whatever address your server is using: http://192.168.1.33:8089/admin/settings

example of one
/media/channelsplex/Elements/Movies/Heaven Is Waiting (2011) 2021-10-18-1159.mpg: stat /media/channelsplex/Elements/Movies/Heaven Is Waiting (2011) 2021-10-18-1159.mpg: no such file or directory

Unfortunately without more details. It is hard

  1. Submit log files
  2. Where they recordings or imports or playon sync
  3. Are the files on a external hard drive or internal
  4. is it ALL movies where deleted or just some

Do you use these In Plex if so are you sure they were not deleted in Plex ? ... because it looks like Channels thinks they are still there ?

i dont use plex

recordings from playon sync
external harddrive
some movies about 114 or so out of 480

Just was wondering about the name channelsplex

That was my idea but just dropped the idea of plex and didn’t do it

So, you IMPORTED these movies into the DVR's Imports folder, OR you RECORDED them through Channels? Because IF these were movies that you ripped to files from DVD's, you MUST put the files into their own folders, and then into the DVR folder: \Media\Imports\Movies

IF you put them in the same default folder that Channels uses for its recordings, THAT'S your issue.

If you put them in the Channels recording folders they would not show up in ChannelsDVR.... so that does not appear to be the case.

Can you describe what you mean? The UI doesn’t have any mechanism to report that a file is missing.

If the record is still in the Channels library, then it’s not likely to be the culprit of the deletion, outside of some strange bug no one else has reported.

If the record is still in the Channels library, it’s more likely that the file was deleted outside Channels.

Unfortunately, with systems like this, there’s all kinds of things that could happen as it’s not a closed system and many things have access to the files.

I’d suggest starting by pushing diagnostics from your Channels DVR Server web admin, and we can check for any weird activities that might explain it in terms of Channels DVR Server.

Ur good dude I’m ok with not getting your input here. Sorry

I’ll push diagnostics when back to computer
