Commercial Detection setting per Recording/Pass

Hi there - I've had a search through the forum but wasn't able to find anything relating to this, my apologies if this has already been answered.

Is it possible to set the commercial detection per recording or series pass? I don't want it on for all of my recordings. I'd like to have it on by default (global DVR setting=enabled), but be able to switch it off for some of my scheduled recordings.

I've been a Plex user for years, but am trying out Channels DVR due to Plex just not being able to get Live TV working properly. So far I have to say Channels DVR has nailed it! It just works. Plex do have the option though to enable commercial detection per recording, which is useful.

Yes, you can set it on a series-level basis. The option is only present if you have at least one recording of the series.

In general, navigate to Library > TV Shows > Series Title > Show Options > Detect Commercials. This option is present in the Apple clients, and the DVR web UI. It is not currently available to Android clients.

(On Apple clients, it's located at Library > TV Shows > Series Title > … > Show Options > Commercials.)

Thank you - I'll go check that out now.

I found the setting but it doesn't let me turn the option on/off. When I click on either "Detect Commercials" or "Include in Up Next" I get a 404 (as seen in the picture below).

Try with the next prerelease

Thanks @tmm1 - as I'm new to Channels, is there anything special I need to do to get my hands on the prerelease?

Click the dropdown next to the Check for Update button, then select Prerelease

Great thanks - ok I'm now running 2021.03.15.1253, but I still have the same issue. I'm able to adjust the setting if it's a show that was imported, but for shows that I've recorded (hdhomerun with xmltv) it won't work.

Happy to provide more information. Also - I like the "Clients" section in the prerelease!

It would be great if the "Enable Commercial Detection" option was available in the pass/recording settings.

Yes sorry - exactly the same error as in my original screenshot.

Please try new prerelease in 20 minutes.

I just put version 2021.03.15.2051 on, still getting the same 404.

Please click Support > Troubleshooting > Submit Diagnostics

@tmm1 - good afternoon. Did you have any success with my diagnostics?

If you check the Network tab in the js console, can you see what the response body with the 404 is?

Response just says "404 Not Found"

This is a bug related to xmltv sources. It's going to take some work to fix.

One option in the meantime is turning off comskip on a per-channel basis. See Manual Recording with no ComSkip

Please try prerelease v2021.03.17.2328 to see if this is fixed.

I only see 2021.03.17.2303 as the latest - do I just need to wait a bit?
