Like title says, I am considering switching from Plex. I cut the cord 10 years ago and have used many different HDHomeruns with WMC, but I upgraded my my DVR/server to Win10 and lost access to WMC. Since I have used Plex for years, I decided to try their DVR offering, but after trying to use it for the past week with NFL (american football) games, I have found it is extremely unreliable for time shifting.
I would be running the Channels DVR software on a Win10 machine (x64, fast Ryzen CPU, 16GB ram, plenty of storage). These are my main areas of concern:
-
Almost all of our “live” tv viewing is time shifted (mostly sporting events). Have the show set to record and start watching 20-30 minutes in so that we can skip commercials. Any issues with this? With Plex the time shifting is extremely unreliable. Pressing the 30-second skip forward often skips a few minutes, or back 10 minutes, or to the “live” stream.

I don’t have any Apple TVs. Our main viewing would be on TVs hooked up to PCs running Win10 or hooked up to a Roku Ultra. I know the Roku support is not official yet, but wondering what is best software option for viewing on a Windows PC. Ideally I want something that will be easy for my spouse to use, ideally with a easy navigation for skipping commercials.
Thank you!
