CRASH - Channels: Whole Home DVR on ATV4K v5.6.3

Hi Running CWHDVR on two Apple TV 4Ks (both Running 16.6).

We noticed that the app started crashing roundabout the 28/29th. When opening the App it states "preparing your TV" then crashes straight out to the home screen. I have deleted and reinstalled the app, first time it opened and I managed to start playing a channel but it crashed out after only a second or two. I have just deleted and re-installed again, it wanted me to connect to my HD Homerun but I didn't even manage to get the IP address in before it crashed

This hasppens on both ATVs, HD Homerun App and Plex both connect and play TV no problem

Actually, just saw your post after I posted something similar. Having same problems. I generally watch imported shows. The developers are great and I am sure they will get to the bottom of it shortly.

Does it happen with the TestFlight beta app from getchannels.com/beta

I don’t have TestFlight installed. I can sign up and give it a try

I don't have TestFlight either - I will download it and give it a go - Still not opening on either ATV

If I completely uninstall and reset apple TV and then re install, sometimes it will open for a few seconds (long enough for guide to appear, but not to select a programme) then it will crash out again.

Plex and the HD Homerun App both connect to the HD Homerun quad tuner with no issues.
Channels Server(2023.05.19.2045) seems to be running fine with no issues:
OS - Linux Ubuntu 22.04 (kernel: 6.1.33-Unraid)
CPU - 40 cores / Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2660 v3 @ 2.60GHz
load averages: 4.95 4.50 4.14
RAM - 251.79 GB
98.2% free

Running the "channelsdvr_nvidia" (Overview:The Channels DVR backend engine with NVIDIA HW transcoding) docker on Unraid.

When using the Channels app on iOS (iPhone 12 Pro Max) no problems at all works as expected.

Ok Downloaded TestFlight and tried the Beta app same issue. I get the rotating bars in the TV icon as it is “Preparing your TV” and after about 20-25 seconds, closes (crashes no info given) back to ATV homepage

If I use the app switcher during the “Preparing your TV” on both apps it switches to “Loading” stable app still times out and crashed to home screen, beta app loads channels, then crashes back to home screen

(Beta 2023 - 6.14.2346)

Beta 2023 4.14.1918 works no problems as does 5.3.1728

6.1.4 crashes as does 6.2.2101, 6.5.1433, 6.6.2001,

Are you able to try more builds to find where it started?

The crash we're seeing from your device is:

WatchdogTermination

The OS watchdog terminated your app, possibly because it overused RAM.

I guess it’s after 5.3.1728 as per my post above - I will go back later double check though!

Just doing a factory reset in the ATV in the living room before trying that one

Morning! My grandparents are having the same issue on their Apple TV 4K that's a remote client. Their tvOS is 16.5 and the app version is 5.6.5. I've tried restarting the client and removing the app. The app opens to login, but once it starts connecting it crashes to the homescreen. Any ideas on what to do?

Checking to see if this is being looked at? Still unable to load the app

No fix that I know of yet, but if you download TestFlight, and install a Beta version you can ge tit working again until they do!

@JayfromtheBay92 if you could confirm this via TestFlight app that would be helpful

@JayfromtheBay92 Inused this link on iOS, once I had it up and running on iOS Iwent into ATV and downloaded it from purchased items iirc

@tmm1 can confirm that 5.4.2329 works. Any build after that continues to crash

If someone could capture the crash logs from their device and email to [email protected] that would be very useful.

It's under Settings > Analytics & Improvements > Analytics Data, you should see entries for Channels in there.

Unfortunately I don't have another apple device and the only way to share the report is via Airdrop. Hopefully this can get fixed :slight_smile:

Edit: Dug up an old iPad, and sent it via email.
