Discovery via Charter/Spectrum authentication

adobe auth reg code: Cable provider authentication failed

I'm getting the above error on Discovery, Science, and probably all affiliated stations. Other channels appear just fine via TVE with existing Charter/Spectrum authentication. The Spectrum app is still working on them.

Since you've been around awhile, I assume you know the Spectrum app has nothing to do with Channels DVR TVE and that you went through the TVE Troubleshooting tips ?

Yea, I upgraded to the latest beta version (was on stable). I logged into the Discovery Go app via Spectrum credentials. I can see live TV there. I've rescanned the channels that were bad with the same result. Other channels are working. I was hoping that somebody on Charter could confirm that their Discovery channels are still working via TVE before going down a rabbit hole.

OK. Good luck.
Most users don't even look at this forum unless they're posting with an issue and have extra time to browse. Most users posting issues and getting help don't even bother to reply back. Mostly just drive-by postings.

It looks like I caused the issue. The Channels DVR app doesn't list what userid you are using for authorization -- it just allows the update of the password. The account that I used was recently raised to the administrator privilege and it doesn't look like it authentication to TVE is working within Channels DVR even though it does on the Go apps. I deleted the Spectrum source and recreated it using a normal user account and it worked. When I tried the recreate it using the admin credentials, it did not. The credentials log me into the site so I"m assuming that it's due to privileges. Basic user privileges work but admin do not. At least that's what it appears to me.

Glad to hear you figured it out.
Provider and Network apps have nothing to do with Channels DVR TVE.

Channels DVR TVE uses the Network Live TV website and your Provider credentials to authenticate it.

There has been a lot of confusion since the start of Channels DVR TVE. Mostly due to their documentation stating to look at a website showing what TVE "apps" are available for networks and not explaining how Channels DVR TVE works.

Has nothing to do with your providers app.
Has nothing to do with a networks app.

And now you're contributing to the misinformation. The identity provider for both the TVE and the provider's app is with the provider (Spectrum in my case). The IDP takes care of the authentication and authorization. That's the common link and where changes were made. Why Channels was having an issue recreating the provider and failing authentication with the admin but not with the user account is a mystery to me. The credentials were known-good and copy/pasted and attempted twice. The user account was done in the same way but worked the first time.

Think what you want. It doesn't change the facts.
