DVB Guide Data Incomplete

Just updated to 8.30.1759 and found the DVB EIT (UK) data is only partially appearing now. Appears for a few of the channels eventually, but not Channel 4 HD and 4+1 HD for example (in my particular setup). I’ve tried a few times, most recent attempt (after killing the app) was very sluggish with only one channel getting anything appearing, and then after a considerable time Channel 4 HD data appears this time, but still not 4+1HD and a couple of others. Very inconsistent?

If I try the release version 1.5.6 then the Guide data appears okay across the channels, so seems to be related to the new build rather than the EIT data content itself?

I’ve hit the submit on diagnostics logs (for Guide Data).

Thanks for reporting, and for submitting logs.

I am trying to add some caching around the EIT data to prevent recomputation during playback (in an effort to fix https://community.getchannels.com/t/picture-jerkiness/195). I think the last attempt was too aggressive and wasn’t updating the guide data when it changed.

I made some more improvements in 8.30.2343, let me know if you still see the issue with that build.

Unfortunately it’s still the same with latest build. Just now got now/next for BBC One HD/Two HD, but nothing appearing for ITV HD/Channel 4 even though all four are on the same MUX, and still nothing even when I tuned into ITV HD itself.

With the caching, you’re not stopping when you see something you’ve already stored are you? If I remember correctly, I read something a while back about the DVB spec for UK DVB EIT being streamed in different repeating periods. E.g. Something along the lines of the now/next data being repeated every 10 seconds so it appears quickly, other channels on the same mux every 30 seconds, and channels for other muxes in the network sent in the stream every 60 seconds or something along those lines…?

If you can remind me of the filters etc, I could grab the EIT stream for 5-10 minutes or something so you have a good sample to work with?

Thanks for checking again. I just tracked down the issue and it should be resolved in the latest beta now (v8.31.2025).

Yip - just installed and tested out. Looking much better now!

A couple of channels (of the 8 HD channels I have as favourites and test with) tend to stick with nothing, but do get their now/next eventually now after a few minutes. They’re always channels on ‘another’ HD MUX from the one being currently streamed though, so I guess it’s working as expected? Certainly looks like it’s running as it used to.

Only comment really is that I have noticed a bit of jerky video, but specifically the background video underneath when I’ve pulled down the Favourites Guide and been scrolling back and forth to check if the channels all have their EIT? If I flick the favourites guide back up out of the way, I may see the jerky video for a second then it returns to normal. After a short while I’m unable to reproduce this though. Is my scrolling past channels that don’t have Now/Next yet causing this, or is it just the issue you’re tackling with the load the EIT parsing is causing?

I’ve not seen jerky video or any other video issues at all when watching a channel fully on the screen though - haven’t seen any issues like that for months.
