ESPN+ & FOX Sports with Custom Channels via EPlusTV

true but question is how long will that work, and for others how can they grab old build?

Do you believe there a path for a fix or this or is it permanently dead?

EPlusTV will not be used to provide guide data for streams that require external configuration to play. Users will invariably get confused and ask EPlusTV for support for those external things.

That said, guide data is usually simple and you can clone, rename, and strip down EPlusTV to do that if you want. For Chrome Capture, you'd also need to somehow translate HTTP stream requests (what you request of EPlusTV) into the expected chrome:// URLs for each event (what Chrome Capture outputs video on). I don't use Chrome Capture so I don't know exactly how that would work, and again, that is going to be outside the scope of this project and thread.

ESPN+ is permanently dead in this project.

You may be able to use something like Chrome Capture for Channels instead.

v4.13.8 pushed

added ESPN Deportes and ESPN on ABC, if they are supported by your TV provider

added @ESPN which is free, but very limited

Awesome. Thanks for all your hard work. Its pretty wild that the name of the docker is Eplustv, and the title is [ ESPN+ & FOX Sports with Custom Channels via EPlusTV ], and now ESPN+ is gone RIP to m0ngr3l.

Truly end of an era, of non "DRM" streams. I know this forum isn't really a place to dwell and ponder, but tony, do you think ESPN will start migrating others soon as well?

I already grab guide data on my peacock streamdvr project, could you check it out on github and maybe optimize the way I am grabbing the guide data? That is the only way I know how.

Stream DVR:

My main question is how do you know the future links of the events? On StreamDVR with peacock I have it click the event based on what channel/event was hit and it clicks corresponding event.

Is there any reason to keep the "ESPN Account" option enabled anymore? I have the "ESPN with TV provider or ISP" enabled.

Most users can disable that now. There was an edge case reported upthread that it helped someone get linears, but it wouldn't matter for you or for most users.

NORMAL - non-linear Channels guide data issues.

Since they don't have Gracenote Guide data (not sure where it comes from?).

Is there any way to get Gracenote guide data or provide more specific guide data for these events?

Pardon the newbie question, but I started using this thinking I could get Local Fox programming using Fox One (not the case), and cannot figure out why my Local Fox sporting events (using my so called Local Fox station) don't use Gracenote guide data.

Causes issues in Channels DVR, like where it thinks GAME 1 is the same as GAME 2, or generic guide data for a show makes it think every airing is the same one and so won't record it again.

I don't have that issue with other sources for the channel that use Gracenote guide data.

Fox One via TV provider could soon be added to EPlusTV!

But until then, we only have Fox Sports, and the only thing it carries from your local Fox is the flagship sporting events.

EPlusTV doesn't get Gracenote guide data, it just gets whatever the provider provides (in this case, the Fox Sports web site). But like other linear channels, I suspect you could manually remap it in Channels DVR to use your local station guide data instead of using the EPlusTV provided guide data. Only the sporting events would work but it might improve your recording experience for them.

Problem is we cannot get our Local Fox channel with Channels DVR TVE, since it doesn't work.
And we cannot get it as a linear channel in E+TV.
I can get it with Gracenote guide data using a HDHR tuner in Channels DVR.
Don't know how I could map the Gracenote guide data to an E+TV Normal channel?

I can stream my Local Fox station from foxDOTcom using my Xfinity or YTTV Provider credentials.
That's why I don't subscribe to Fox One.

See ESPN+ & FOX Sports with Custom Channels via EPlusTV - #2856 by scottuf (I think)

Soon you should be able to use your Xfinity or YTTV credentials via Fox One in EPlusTV, to get your local Fox station. Not sure what the guide data will be like from Fox One yet, it may still be preferable to remap it.

In any case, watch this thread or the Github repo for updates.

That's for linear channels, not normal channels.
I don't get my (so called Local Fox) channel via E+TV Fox Linear channels, only the Normal channels.

Got it. I never realized those were called “normal” channels.

I could probably change it to a linear, and probably change the name to just “FOX” rather than the “local” call sign. Although the Fox One integration might make it moot.

Here's what the airings look like in Channels DVR

You can grab the m3u8 it still works.

Would it potentially be possible to use this with international ESPN Watch versions as well? I live in the Netherlands, where one of the international ESPN franchises airs local soccer as well as American sports. I can use ESPN Watch to view the broadcast channels as well as extra events not broadcast on lineair television, and it seems to be mostly the same as the American ESPN Watch (including verifiying your subscription through your tv provider). The only difference seems to be the domain it is being hosted on (espn.nl/watch instead of .com).

I tried using the existing ESPN and ESPN+ configuration options, and was able to verify my account through the ESPN+ option, but it does not show the actual content in the EPG (let alone the content itself).

If you are signing in with an ESPN account, it won’t get any events in EPlusTV anymore, as they have switched them all to DRM.

Do you have a TV provider that you can use to sign in?

My EPlusTV docker keeps timing out. I have to restart it at least once a day. I save several other Docker containers that never time out. Could there be a setting I have wrong?

What do you mean by "timing out"? Are you on the latest version (4.13.8)?
