ESPN+ & FOX Sports with Custom Channels via EPlusTV

Do ESPN8 - The ocho events appear on this?

Setup a recording for the Illinois at Nebraska college football game tonight, I got error getting content on E+. This is a national Fox broadcast tonight, I'm not in the blackout area.

Haven't seen this issue on Fox recordings with E+ lately, running 3.1.4.

2024-09-20 20:53:54 Channel #8000 has an active event (College Football - Illinois at Nebraska). Going to start the stream.

Looks like all of the Fox programs are failing now, tried everything live in the guide and nothing works with the same error.

That's not a real channel

Had to reenter my Fox creds, 3.1.4 restarted and now nothing is scheduled, no channels in guide. Logs show that no events came from Fox.

So Fox is broken here, was working fine until yesterday.

Edit: nvm, working now. Channels server crashed and after restart Fox has events and can play them. Diags sent to Channels support.

It is a channel on ABC.com

Is there a reason why NFL events are basically the only sport that doesn't show "NFL - team vs. team" in the title? For example the Giants vs. Browns game tomorrow just shows as Giants vs. Browns, where it should say NFL - Giants vs. Browns. And then Channels can pick it up as an NFL football recording.

Pretty much every other sport I've seen like college football, MLB baseball, Nascar etc. has the sport listed but the NFL does not.

I hate to say it but this may be a case where even if Fox doesn't provide NFL football as the event type then maybe you have to have a list of NFL team names and if you see them force the category.

Guide data from this container has been lacking since day one.

Maybe lacking is not the right word, but it’s not built specifically for channels.

It’s been brought up a few times for the past two years and the response has been nothing or the “this container was more specifically built for other software programs”

That’s also the answer to “why does it populate the guide all weird”.

This container was not specifically built for channels but he has added some minor things to make it display better.

Agreed, but the workaround is simple - have a list of team names for the most popular sports and if you see events with those teams, you can add that category to the guide data if Fox doesn't provide it.

Yeah it's more work, I get that.

Not to mention that the first priority should be, and has been brought up before, a rewrite for the horrible signing in to services workflow.

It’s been suggested that there should be an html page like other containers with urls and a gui way to sign in to the services instead of going to logs or terminal windows of docker. Especially that this container likes to reset its tokens if you sneeze.

It’s a great container but it needs a little TLC before other crap gets added.

Feel free to fork it and add in features you find lacking then :person_shrugging:

Come on man, don't act that way. We love the container we're just providing input.

I know you're just providing as much as you can but the fix is fairly easy when Fox is not giving all the info that you need for the guide data, and it would be awesome for our passes.

Seriously? You come here for feed back all these years, it’s given to you, you take it and implement or dont do it.

some other guy and I talk about it and this your actuall answer? Nobody was gaslighting you or tagging you. You could have ignored it like you have done with other things.

You want us to lie to you and tell you it’s perfect? Then don’t ask for feedback and make this read only.

Set the rules for your thread. What would you like your “customers” to talk about here?

I’m not going to pretend it’s easy to do like the other guy states, i was just pointing out how you’ve handled requests in the past.

Whatever, I’m sure one of the owners here will chime in and blame us for this.

I really don’t care, I was just conversing with the other guy. Do what you want :person_shrugging:

I don't have time to build out every provider that everyone wants, fix every bug, or finding out how to supplementing whatever data is missing with the current API. I work on it in my very limited spare time.

I'm just saying if you don't like something, submit a PR. It should be pretty simple for everyone considering how often I get told how easy things are

Not my thread. I didn't start it and I don't moderate it. Post whatever you want. You're not my customer because I'm not offering a product

Sorry I brought this up, you're doing a great job.

Dude don't listen to them. Your docker works great on NextPVR. Why they are taking it out on you, I have no idea.

Appreciate the effort that goes into this product, especially since the author could just write it for themselves and not share it with others since there is no compensation......

Appreciate that users who use the product are enthusiastic about the product and contribute towards user feedback......

Keep up the great work and keep giving feedback on end user experiences.....

I don't have time to build out every provider that everyone wants

Seems like you do since Dougie up there keeps spitting out things like cbs Sunday ticket (what is that by the way) and south central mountain valley sports for blindfolded curling and you’re implementing :person_shrugging:

I don’t know about anyone else but I wasn’t giving you shit. Only pointing out what happens.

Besides, I did two PR’s when this started and you ignored them so I deleted them. Then a day later Maddox chimes in and you did it and I pointed it out to you. Scroll up and look for yourself. I even said I understand that you’re busy. All the evidence is up there.

Great container but thinking there arent any flaws and people pointing them out that they should be fixed before adding what Doug asks shouldn’t be an issue but you did and others followed.

Good luck.
