And find the one that matches the scraped EPG for the channel

Great app!!!! Have you considered adding an additional feed output for Plex DVR, eliminating the need to use a proxy like xTeVe to create a virtual tuner for Plex.

The gracenote details for Grio Classic on Friendly as as follows:
station id: 132166 the groc is the item that needs to be put in if you use something like Stream Link manager to look up codes.
Thanks

Let @matthuisman know since that's where @KineticMan gets the GNID from.

Regarding Dups, I exceeded what the number of channels the default feed can support. To get around this I set up a feed for each of my sources and removed the default feeds from Channels DVR. Each of the feeds is added to Channels DVR and this works nicely except if a source is not available or the channel within the source stops functioning. I've priratized my feeds in Channels and I'm wondering if there is a reason I should dedup in FastChannels. My thought is that channels will handle the dupes by using source priorities of my feeds. If a channel or source fails to work Channels cna then fall back to the next source. Is there a downside to this? If I chose to let Channels manage the dupes, is there an easy way in FastChannels to enable the disabled duplicate channels?

I encourage people to think differently on feeds. Don’t think by “source” (like Pluto, Plex, LocalNow). Think of them like News, Sports, Movies. Kinda like Automatic Channel Collections on CDVR.

Sure outputs are easy to add. I haven’t used Plex in years but happy to look into it.

Doubt I’d add a whole tuner - quick glance looks like it needs transcoding which is pretty heavy. But if I can make it easier for you to plug into those tools, sure.

This limited view of the world is not for me. It prevents finding new items of interest and seeing the great movies and shows of types not filtered out.

Even if one is using the filter method you describe, is there a disadvantage to not deduplicating?

I guess we just see it differently. Since FastChannels are typically programmed by type (like, Sports, Movies, Local News), using FastChannels to do all the heavy lifting is my preferred way. I don't necessarily want 15000 channels in CDVR. I'd rather have a curated list, and manage it with the admin portal. The new guide feature makes it easy to see what's on that you might be interested in.

But, hey - it's your device. Let CDVR do the merging on their end - but remember, you're limited to 750 channels on their inputs. Real easy to hit that limit if you just do one big ol' feed with all the source s I have setup for y'all.

I agree we see some of this differently yet at the same time I see the challenge avoiding overloading the system so I agree too many channels is not a great thing. At least the feeds I'm using are general purpose, for example Plex and Pluto.

Avoiding the 750 channel limit is why one of the reasons I use multiple feeds and another is staying organized.

I had a service go down on me yesterday and I missed a recording from a channel that's available on other sources I have. This is where having a channel available from multiple sources is an advantage.

I'm going to continue with this approach and am thrilled to have all the sources that you provide available. If I find issues with what I'm doing I can always change and I'll share my experience hear so others can learn from my sucess or failure.

btw, fired up Plex today after your ask. What a piece of crap software they have. All us CDVR users should count own blessings. i'll keep trying but boy it's not very forgiving for live TV .....

thanks for coming to my ted talk.

Is there a way to add user-defined categories?

I can't get the Amazon free channels to play, despite having put in my login & pw, and obtained a cookie. Is your suggestion that I do something to make some location a trusted site? If so, please explain more details. I normally use Firefox but have Chrome as well.

I agree. I create feeds based on categories and then add those individual feeds to Channels.

Plex is hardly alone in bad TV apps with many behaving totally differently than most others. Google and I'm guessing Apple also needs to come out with an Interface standard and set a date by which all Apps that remain in there stores comply.

My top wishlist item for the week is an option to view disabled channels on the Guide tab. Same choices as the Channel State filter on the Channels tab: Enabled+Disabled, Enabled Only, Disabled Only.

Yeah...its not exactly a good way to watch TV. This is why I pay for Channels :joy:

Fo sho. Plex won’t ingest M3Us without a HDhomerun emulator (like threadfin). So double the work for half the experience.
