I think it was an issue with the size of his library. I took some extra steps to lazy load content and simplified the filter.

there was also a chance of 1 of the usb hdd's needing to be unplugged/replugged. I didn't do a good job of paying enough attention as I'm fighting the drive housing movies allowing me windows file share (but works fine in this and all cdvr stuff) anyway reset them all, but forgot to check until installing the update. I tried uninstalling update and going back to the one from this AM. the load time is fast but the filter was off, but not the same as this morning, so maybe i'll try it in a vm later to see, but I'm leaning toward usb glitch. sorry for chasing ghosts.

What's the recommended way to watch a recording in progress using Feral HTPC.
Watching the recorded file or watching the channel live as it records.
Channels DVR will be recording from my HDHR Prime, so choosing to watch live would use tuner sharing.
Well that didn't work.
Tried to play the in progress recording about 16 minutes after it started recording.
Player window just closed and the main window wasn't responding, so had to kill it.

Its pretty hard to play any Pluto channels. gotten better as now it will play some ad breaks fine, but then will freeze frame. I can skip fwd a bit, through, and the show comes back, but still is frozen. Have to close channel and re-open.
Also, enabling force AAC, causes no audio for me. That setting used to result in more stable overall playback.
EDIT: I am not sure what happened...now i am not getting any audio from Feral at all, on any channel or source.
Pluto has to be transcoded by right clicking the channel and selecting the transcode option. I am working on Pluto specific changes, but that is still some time away. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the app and see if the volume returns, also. Verify that it is not muted as well.
Rebooted PC. Have sound now. It is stuttering every several seconds though when time shifting is enabled.

So today I went to play the same recording that failed to play while recording last night.
Appears you're getting an HLS stream from Channels DVR (it's only remuxing).
I skipped around and scrubbed, then looked at the logs.
I then cleared the streaming cache and deleted the video index in Channels DVR and tried again.
Logs look cleaner now.
I always delete the video index on a recording before playing it back in the DVR web UI.
I'm wondering if you can get a stream from Channels DVR without it using its video index?

Shows the same thing watching the same HDHR Prime CBS channel live.
I'm trying to decide if I want to continue using the remuxed HLS or switch back to the raw ts stream from channels DVR. There are advantages and disadvantages to both. Let me do some more thinking on this. Tuner sharing and Pluto were giving me such a poor stream. I really need to determine which way will be best for most streams and work on addressing the problem channels from that point on..
Edit: Or maybe I need to request remuxed for Pluto channels and raw ts for everything else. Anyway, let me figure the best approach to take.

Ok, I think I have a better way to handle this with a more modular approach to selecting the best streaming pipeline to use. I will be spending the next few days building the new approach and testing. Hopefully by this weekend I'll have it working better. I'm going to make it easier for me to test both methods to determine which will work best for different streams and tweak each one separately. I'm convinced there is not a one size fits all solution to these problems. Hopefully this will reduce the need for transcoding and allow for quicker and easier adjustments for problem channels.
Might be a bit low priority, but can we get the sort to ignore "The" when at the beginning of a title?
or perhaps alternately make a sort ignore list in settings we can add to (for foreign languages)?
1.1.2 is released. It has a remux option on the channel right click menu and globally in the settings. It seems to help the Pluto channels out. It has some time shift improvements, but time shift still is not smooth.
