Frndly TV for Channels

I am interested in reading more about that. Is there some kind of forum or reddit you are using that let you know other customers using the default app are having login issues?

I agree they likely had an issue. I was able to save my same password using their reset form. I then deleted/reinstalled docker image and added back the two sources. No issues since. Good luck.

Mine is working. Didn't have to touch the docker container or run command.
Just reset pass on the website and change it back to the original.
May not be a good idea if their user database was hacked.

Yeah, I took this opportunity to make sure to make a completely new password just in case there was some kind of security issue involved.

Hi there,
I subscripe tothe FRNDLY facebook group.
The group is a good measuring stick.
In general, we are getting a better experience compared to the FRNDLY app. Glad it was somethingsimple.

Frndly recently stopped for me as well. I assumed login issue was the cause after seeing the issues mentioned above. I was able to "reset" my password back to my existing password. Essentially I just typed my current password into the reset password field. It accepted the same password but this time it logged me in. Thought I should mention as it didn't require a reset of the docker since my password stayed the same.

Thanks for the notes. My Frndly Docker Container suddenly stopped working for me because of a login error. At frndlytv.com, I acted like I "forgot my password" and reset it to the exact same thing, and Docker Container worked immediately. Thanks!

I checked on the other program that logs into FRNDLY Tv Stremium and appears it wasn't affected.
I think they are accessing it apart from the login system. They use it to verify and then it just works as long as it is active.
Philo is the same thing. I believe one of their techs provided a back door.
Those guys are quite shifty.
FRNDLY is now working great. I'm looking forward to seeing Channels DVR advance.

Am not sure what Philo has to do with Frndly? Anyway, Philo sets up as a traditional TVE source (and a popular one) like all the other TVE providers. Frndly sets up as a custom channels using a docker. So they are unrelated services and authentication mechanisms.

Definitly agree. I was simply taking note.
I love FRNDLY and some of the other stuff out there.
I'm hoping things will just keep working. Great stuff!!!

Anyone else notice log entries changed very recently?
Everything seems to work fine, no issues with recordings.

I'm used to seeing this in the log when watching live or recording.
GET /play/get_tv.m3u8 returns channel/live/get_tv

Starting yesterday afternoon it's showing this instead.
GET /play/20.m3u8 returns epg/play/909638 <=different increasing 6 digit numbers

Tuning in to watch live displays this in the docker log.

Get TV
epg/play/910752 > https://sr-live5-frndly.akamaized.net/v1/master/...
192.168.1.3 - - [14/Nov/2022 21:03:50] "GET /play/20.m3u8 HTTP/1.1" 302 -

Heroes & Icons
epg/play/911739 > https://sr-live5-frndly.akamaized.net/v1/master/...
192.168.1.3 - - [14/Nov/2022 21:04:10] "GET /play/47.m3u8 HTTP/1.1" 302 -

Again, everything appears to be working, just curious if I'm the only one seeing this.

based on the requirement to change password earlier in the week, looks like FRNDLY changed the CDN used for distributing the service.

The playlist.m3u8 changed

FROM
#EXTINF:-1 channel-id="frndly-20" tvg-id="frndly-20" ...,Get TV
http://127.0.0.1:8183/play/get_tv.m3u8

TO
#EXTINF:-1 channel-id="frndly-20" tvg-id="frndly-20" ...,Get TV
http://127.0.0.1:8183/play/20.m3u8

Yeah I do now notice the change from friendly names to simple numbers. I never would have noticed it if you hadn't mentioned it. Have not noticed any interruption or change in how things are handled. All is working great. I am not going to say this is related to the password issues the prior week, but the timing is suspect, so it can not be ruled out that those issues are not related. (wow, a lot of double negatives in that last run-on sentence). In any case, FrndlyTV for Channels is working as designed and functioning. So I am not sweating it, but I do confirm I see the same changes in my logs.

Since it changed in the playlist.m3u8 and I haven't updated the docker container, it must be something FrndlyTV or @matthuisman did. Everything is working normally, just wanted to point it out to see if anyone knew why it changed.

I have a service running that pre-caches the channel slug.
https://i.mjh.nz/frndly_tv/app.json

As you can see, all the slugs are empty so then the docker fallbacks to using the channel id to fetch the EPG to then obtain the channel slug (bit slower and relies on hosts time being correct)

I suspect my service is broken due to password change of the password it was using.

Thanks for the explanation. Now we know that fallback method works

slugs are back for faster playback

Hi guys....I've read all the latest on Frndly TV issues, but being fairly new at this, I'm not sure how to go about fixing not getting the channels. I had the error matthewfranzel brought up and now, since yesterday, I can't get any channels. I have the latest docker. Tried Absenm's post on docker host and I get nothing. I logged into Frndly TV and no issue with my password, but I reset it to the same password anyway. Went into terminal and ran Matt's commands, just in case for the passwords, nothing. Got frustrated, deleted frndly tv in channels, even deleted and reinstalled Docker Desktop, followed Matt's instructions, now when I try to add Frndly TV in Channels, I get a 404 error. I went in docker and looked at sources and I get docker list 2 sources even though I don't have frndly on channels. Please help a lost relative newbee...also, I pulled up docker and it showed me 2 sources:

Channels Source 1

Stream Format: HLS
Refresh: Daily
Source URL: http://localhost:8183/playlist.m3u8?gracenote=include
XMLTV Data URL: (Leave Blank)

Channels Source 2

Stream Format: HLS
Refresh: Daily
Source URL: http://localhost:8183/playlist.m3u8?gracenote=exclude
XMLTV Data URL: http://localhost:8183/epg.xml?gracenote=exclude

Shouldn't it only be one source? or is this normal for what Frndly TV image has in Docker?
Thanks

Not going to believe this....I did NOTHING and suddenly Frndly is back? Go figure....On the plus side, I don't need a haircut as I pulled most of mine out this morning with this!!! hahahaha
