FS1 not working on FIOS

Anyone having trouble getting FS1 Fox Sports 1 on Verizon FIOS cable card or TVE? FS2 works only on cablecard HDHR.

Are you on the latest server prerelease?

FS1 is protected with DRM on Fios with cable card.

So no way to get it to work on cable card in HDHR?

How would a channels DVR server software update impact an issue with my HDHR not being able to decode FS1 on the cable card?

You said:

So, that.

TVE has not worked for FS1 for a while. You are saying the Channels software update may fix FS1 working via TVE?

Yes

How do I get the suggested pre-to release software to load? I just checked for an update and the 4

FS1 is working at the moment. The typical user experience is that when Channels DVR FS1's TVE falls down, the developers do look into it, eventually.

It is a disappointment when you've just worked 7 days straight and arrive home on Sunday night to realize that FS1 TVE was broke over the weekend, and your sporting events are non-existent in the Channels DVR list of recordings. That does appear to be the current landscape of Channels DVR and TVE channels unfortunately. If there was some form of warning system in place that told a user that Channels DVR was falling down, it would at least give the user an opportunity to intervene and try and fix it, but that apparently isn't going to happen here in the native Channels DVR software.

Thanks. I did an update, then did TVE rescan (which went very fast) and I once again have FS1 and FS2. Love Channels DVR and the support I always get!

You can run the E+ container and get the Fox sports events that way, as a backup. It only works for live stuff but it does work. I have two passes for all the sports I want, one the normal way via Gracenote data and the other as an advanced pass that gets the E+ feeds with keyword search. So if channels can't pull FS1 or 2 the backup usually works.

What's a container?

Docker container.

Unfortunately that's just the nature of the beast with all of these providers. Sometimes it's a cat and mouse game.

Agree.
And one has to remember that Channels DVR TVE is (and will probably always be) a Beta feature.
And TVE Local stations are Experimental.

And one has to remember that it's completely within the realm and ability of the Channels DVR programmers to create a more reliable system, whether that be faster responses to failing TVE issues, or a system that warns the user when there is a problem so there is at least an opportunity to intervene, or both. The Channels DVR programmers are in a perfect position to do just this, if they were willing.

I don't think you realize how fragile the whole TVE ecosystem is  Each channel/provider has their own authn/authz system, handle tokens differently, have different APIs, ect. It's not a one size fits all problem

I agree with you 100%. In fact, you really drive the point home - there needs to be a Channel DVR developer on call at all times to resolve these TVE problem as soon as they arise. Let's build on that. Add a checkbox to the server software that says "notify developers when Channels DVR recognizes a problem with a TVE channel and fix it." This way the users (the paying customers) don't even have to be inconvenienced when it happens.

I know ... crazy idea.
