I've got a new install of Ubuntu Server 24.04.3 running on ESXI with a nvidia quadro p2000 passed through to the OS but I'm not able to get hardware transcoding to work. When I try to 'rescan hardware' on the web front end, I get DRM errors in the terminal. Does anyone have any ideas?
If Intel, I have to run this command in Linux:
echo "options i915 enable_guc=2" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/i915.conf
Can't tell you why, I found it in one of the posts here a few months ago when I couldn't get hardware transcode to work.
EDIT - Nevermind, I see you mention it's an Nvidia chip. Hopefully others can help out.

Originally was using instructions to install the nvidia driver here: NVIDIA drivers installation - Ubuntu Server documentation but tried the 'apt install' method AND disabled secure boot, and it's working now.
