Hdhomerun for LA, California

Hey guys. I have a client in LA for whom I want to get the Channels DVR going. Can someone pls advise me the correct HDHomeRun quad tuner model.
Thanks very much

Unless there is some limiting factor, any of them should work.

Thanks no no limitations as far as I am aware. So this would be the latest model I am assuming https://www.amazon.com.au/SiliconDust-HDHR5-4US-HDHomeRun-CONNECT-4-Tuner/dp/B078LH47CD/ref=pd_lpo_504_t_2/356-3709409-5097567?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B078LH47CD&pd_rd_r=1c88a769-7dac-42d1-9882-6d620b71b6ff&pd_rd_w=VwVc6&pd_rd_wg=9UDIy&pf_rd_p=ad2d1e6e-bc60-4795-b4c0-2dbd35f6678d&pf_rd_r=023FPB85D36KG952WDHN&psc=1&refRID=023FPB85D36KG952WDHN

You may want to avoid the new ATSC 3.0 4k Quatro unless you want to do a lot of troubleshooting and hand holding though.

Ah I forgot the 4k hit the US market. Yep I can wait until that improves perhaps in future gens or firmware versions

Yes, not sure what the exchange rate is (AUD=USD * 1.35?), but here's Amazon USA https://www.amazon.com/SiliconDust-HDHR5-4US-HDHomeRun-Connect-4-Tuner/dp/B078LH47CD?ref_=ast_sto_dp
And at Silicon Dust online shop in the USA https://shop.silicondust.com/shop/product-category/hardware/?scrollto=487466

As far as I'm aware, we don't have any stations broadcasting ATSC3 yet here.

Yes we do. The problem is ATSC 3.0 isn't ready for general use. You have to disable the ATSC 3.0 channels in Channels DVR or recordings will be full of skips and audio issues.

I'm aware of SD's forum. But there are no mentions of any stations in the LA area broadcasting ATSC3 there. The nearest we have is Santa Barbara, I believe; but that's not LA.

Was just making the OP aware that ATSC 3.0 is experimental in the U.S.A. right now and for someone in Australia trying to support someone in California, it would not be a good choice right now to go with the ATSC 3.0 4k Quatro HDHomeRun CONNECT 4K HDHR5-4K.

Without ATSC3 in LA, the Quattro 4K functions just the same as the regular Quattro. Also, once we get ATSC3 here, the kinks may be worked out.

OK, and by then SD will surely release DRM recording...

Their software sucks. The firmware is generally OK. The hardware is solid.

Just don't expect "features"; but basic functionality will work, and work well.

I don't want to risk troubleshooting issues or even clients having issues in particular with remote support. The standard version has been rock solid for me and clients so I might stick to that. We can upgrade later when the ATSC version has had a good track record, its a few hundred not thousands

Thanks for the discussion by the way!
