It's in the title - when out of town using a Firetv 4K Max, I cannot view recordings or live tv if the HEVC transcoding option is checked - however I can stream HEVC encoded blu-ray rips - I have to uncheck the box and then streaming recordings via MPEG4 works fine - my channels dvr server is a core i5 10600K running Windows 11 - anyone else experience this issue?
For similar bitrate and resolutions up to 1080p, H.264 (AVC) and H.265 (HEVC) give similar compression, in my personal experience.
Unless you are trying to stream 4K or better content, I don't see any benefit to using HEVC.

You are right about MPEG4/AVC being sufficient but given an HEVC capable CPU (Intel Quicksync) and streaming device, I would expect this to work
