I am just lost, HDHomeRun Undiscoverable

I’m having trouble figuring out what’s wrong with my setup. My HDHomeRun is installed on my local network at http://192.168.1.182, I can access it directly, and a channel scan finds 40+ channels without issue.

After that, I’m stuck. The Channels apps on iOS and Apple TV can see the HDHomeRun device, but the Channels app installed on my NAS cannot neither can Plex. I’ve scanned for the device, tried manually adding it by IP address, and reset my routers, but nothing has worked. I don’t understand why the NAS-based Channels app can’t detect the HDHomeRun.

For what it’s worth, my TV Everywhere channels and virtual channels are working correctly.

Reset routers? Like more than one? Also whats the ip of your NAS and what NAS brand are you talking about.

Yeah give a complete topology diagram and we can probably help

just one Fios router but i have multiple hardwired Fios extenders acting as a mesh network. The HDHomeRun is hardwired directly into one of the extenders. The NAS is a WD PR4100.

So I guess the test would be to directly plug the HDHomerun into a switch or router and then see if it can find it. I would guess its something odd with having it on the Fios Extender

ill give it a try, its strange its discoverable in the Apple TV and iOS apps.

and weirdly my Samsung tv can see the HDHomerun as well

Are they all wirelessly connected? The extender might be behaving like a router.

Everything that can see the HDHomeRun is connected wireless. (Phone, Apple TV, and Samsung TV)

Oh boy... #1 i would recommend that you hardwire the HDHomerun directly to a port on your router. No wireless backhauls. Its best to stay away from mesh as much as possible.

An alternative: If you have cable outlets scattered throughout the house you could use MOCA. I would 100% do that as opposed to mesh. The VZ router already has moca built in, all you need is 1 moca device per location that you need wired ethernet.

If you are able to basically hard wire everything, you will never have an issue. Leave the mesh crap for phones tablets etc.

Also make sure your HDHomerun is on latest firmware.

Can you ping that IP?

All of your extenders need to act as Bridges. The default is usually NAT and this is your problem. If you can't replace them and as you have extenders, I suggest you get a mesh router and nodes in a kit with as many nodes as you have extenders. Here is a link to PC Mag's recommendations:

You could replace your FIOS router yet Verizon will not help you if you have issues. If you are not perficient with network gear, then plug the mesh router into one of the FISO Router's LAN ports.
