FYI, I've been running Channels DVR and PLEX on a Windows PC for more than 2 years now and I don't have any third-party antivirus software installed. I started with Windows 10 and later upgraded to Windows 11.

When I got this new computer, it came with a free trial of McAfee. The first thing I did was uninstall it completely. I hate third party antivirus software. They often make your computer bloated and they add hooks to many parts of your system.

As @speedingcheetah mentioned, I don't use my server to go to wild and potentially dangerous websites, or open shady emails. Similarly, I haven't used any antivirus other than the one built in Windows for more than 10 years and never got into trouble. My network is not exposed, there are no holes in my router firewall.

In my own experience, third-party AV software has caused me more trouble than helped me (false positive detections, blocking apps from accessing the network, etc.) No need for extra trouble.

Just my extra 2 cents. :slight_smile:

McAfee has a built-in FIREWALL, that tends to block everything it even thinks is suspicious. I'd suspect that of causing your issues. IF you won't uninstall McAfee, I highly suggest you disable its firewall.

From what I can tell the McAfee I have interfaces with the windows defense. I set rules in the windows defender to allow everything to and from channels. The thing is I can remote access channels from outside my network no problem. It’s just the TVE that is mostly giving me fits. When I get home I’ll attempt to connect a TVE channel and post the log.

No. When u install a 3rd party antivirus software, it disables Windows Defender/ Windows Security. You would need to set allow rules and exceptions to the third party software you use.

Tve does not use any of the remote acces that is used to use the server remotely. It connects to various network sites and Adobe powered authentication servers and things, completely separate than remote access. Firewalls and ad blocks often block these connections. Sometimes it is intermittent, so that may be why things sometimes do work. AV software gets updates too that can change and block things.

Third party av software often blocks connections from other devices on your network.

Ok got home finally. So for some unknown reason Most of my TVE are now working missing DOVE and AMC to name a couple. I can also now watch on my other windows computers. Nothing had been done by myself from last nights reinstall. So as you can see I am not on the latest version since I restored from a backup a couple of weeks ago that was operating correctly. My next question is do I date update? Which version??

How do I upload my TXT log?
I am attaching a screenshot and my logs.

I had the very same loss of DOVE and AMC a month ago. I was advised to update to the latest pre release and that fixed it. Should I do the same now?

If you are using TVE you should be on the latest pre-release.

After you update to prerelease try to tune the tve channel. After it fails go to http://192.168.1.142:8089/admin/log

While I’m at it is there any way to advance the guide say 24 hrs ahead instead of scrolling right forever.

Thank you all for the help. Not sure I’m sold 100% but I bought a year subscription. On the line about renewal. I may just add my recordings to my Plex server. I have a Plex Pass already and I have never had an issue. I like many things about Channels but let’s see how it shakes out.

In the web ui guide yes, but I don’t believe you can in the app. You can select the actual box of the channel and it will give you a list of shows upcoming for that channel. Search is also an option
