I’m about to give up!

Remove mcaffee and disable sleep, reboot and give it another try...

100% agree with everyone here to get rid of McAfee asap.

Yeah if you are using a firewall/router and running with the stock windows defender AV you are fine. No need for McAfee bloatware that does more harm than good. I bet you anything that if he uninstalls it and disables sleep all of his issues will vanish.

Are you still having issues? Did you ditch McAfee?

Others have had this issue and it seems they updated their version (Check for Updates) and did a channel Rescan. If you are up to date, try a channel rescan and see if that helps.
Also, go to their respective websites and see if you can stream it from their website. Maybe they are having issues.

So everything is working again for now. Haven’t had time to remove McAfee yet. Leaving on vacation today. Don’t want to make any big changes so I don’t have issues that I can’t fix. First thing on my list in a week.

Thank you all for the suggestions and help. I do like channels and I want to love it but the zero tech support bothers me tremendously. I am paying a fee and expect some attempt at support. Expecting you guys to do their support service is unacceptable at best. I appreciate it but what ami I paying for?

I prepaid a years subscription and will enjoy it as best I can. Renewal is 50/50 at this point. I kind of like to be kissed before I get F@cked.

As it stands I’ll migrate my DVR recordings to Plex at some point. I’m glad some of you are getting along well. I am above average at networking.

My LAN is self built with over 5000 ft of cat 6 and works great. I have multiple servers online with static IPs to everything. My wireless is limited to less than 6 devices. So I know my around computers and networks. I tend to stick with technology that doesn’t require much intervention.

I know everyone here is a channel’s friend and IMO without you guys they would already be on the ashheap of history.

I have a Plex server online also now over 6 years. The reason I even started down this road was to find a suitable replacement for our Amazon Recast box which Amazon is phasing out. It is a marvel of engineering. Sad to see it go. I have had the opportunity to work both Plex and Channels side by side for the past several months. Channels has been down multiple times and on 2 different platforms. Plex not down once not once. Plex configuration can be a little complex but once it’s up and running you’re done. So far Channels is a “will it work today” operation.

I have another 6-8 months on my subscription so maybe it will get better. No other device or server on my network has the glitch factor channels does. Channels is definitely not for the average consumer but Plex really isn’t either.

Maybe someone will pick up the Amazon Recast line. It is the first consumer ready plug and play DVR that hit the market.

In the meantime, I’ll plug along. But whoever owns channels should be ashamed of their tech support. Average consumers may get conned into one subscription but few will renew. If HD Homerun ever gets serious and improves their software then it’s lights out for Channels.

I have done this on multiple occasions without success. What seems to work is a complete uninstall and reinstall. I usually don’t lose just one TVE I lose them all. I have both FUBO and Philo so I lose everything.

I suggest you hit up some of our more knowledgeable users to see how they have integrated Channels with Plex. With some integrations you are getting the best of both worlds. I believe that Edwin_Perez has successfully merged both together seamlessly.
I have been around both and see how both are beneficial but since Plex went a more commercial route their innovation has taken a hit.
I have had very little issue with Channels, and when I do it's usually something I did, like blow away my docker container by accident and install the wrong one back.
Anyway, There is a whole slew of knowledge here that can help you set everything up the way you like it...And without channels, I would be DVR'ing all my shows on Hulu...Ugh...

This is your problem. Multiple people have told you to remove it. McAfee is horrid crap that breaks things very frequently. It will silently block DNS queries and traffic and does so with no real rhyme or reason. Windows Defender is more than sufficient.

You are welcome to beat yourself silly with trying absolutely everything but refusing to do the one thing that will fix it. Opening multiple topics and posting unrelated walls of text isn't going to change a single thing if you refuse to accept the advice you have been getting from multiple people. Would you even accept the advice if tech support responded with "Remove McAfee"? That's the first thing they are going to tell you.

TiVo came before that, by a long shot.

FYI Mr. Friendly, I opened two topics because I couldn’t respond to topic #1 because I was limited to 16 responses in 24 hrs (brainiac idea). Not wanting to appear rude I opened the second thread so I could respond to questions asked. So put your club back in your pocket and perhaps read my responses where I explained tge second thread.

True. I never adopted TIVo.

Oh and again Mr. Warm and Fuzzy had you taken the time to read my response I will remove McAfee when I return from Jamaica.

I'm going to jump on the McAfee and other 3rd party virus scanners bashing party, too, and not just for Channels. Back when I dealt with a lot of high-end corporate level software, we had to get rid of all of these or put in massive exclusions for the software to work. I'm talking stuff that costs hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars a year to license. These programs are bad news, all around.

Brother, thank you for a honest insightful response. Appreciate it.

I do not disagree. Feel like I’m between a rock and a hard spot. 2 years ago my QNAP NAS was hacked and one of those hostage viruses was installed. Choices were pay up or delete and rebuild. I rebuilt. Took a lot of time and effort. I try to keep things locked down as much as possible.

I am going to remove it when we return home. But I originally installed Channels on a NUC running Windows 11 no antivirus at all and had the exact same issues. So I’m skeptical but will give it a try. Appreciate the advice, Thank you

Dozens of posts of users responding to your vague posts of basicly, "it don't work".... equals "zero support" ok. Cool. I'm out.
