I've tried out Channels and I love it, but I think I'm out of luck given my particular scenario and won't be able to use it. I thought I would post here just in case I'm missing something and there's a way I could use it.
We use YouTube TV as our main streaming service. The two big pain points that I wanted Channels to solve, and it does a great job at both are:
- Skipping commercials on network TV shows
- A good DVR interface (YouTube TV's sucks)
The problem is that we currently use a Roku stick connected to a pre-2018 Samsung Smart TV.
Obviously Channels doesn't run on Roku. I would have no problem switching from the Roku. I can't switch to Amazon Fire because it doesn't support YouTube TV. I would be happy to switch to Apple TV but my older Samsung TV doesn't support it.
So as this point, it looks like the only real option is I would have to get a new Samsung Smart TV (or I suppose an Android TV). And it's hard to justify buying a whole new TV just to solve my two pain points, when our current TV is otherwise fine.
Again, I would love to know I'm missing something in terms of a solution!
