Is there a way to add a custom folder to Library for each family member? It would help keep the main TV or Movie folder less cluttered.

If you are just talking about organizing content around a person, there are Labels and Library Collections. If you are talking about creating user profiles, not built in, but you can make it happen per device if you want to do the work:

I am looking for a way to separate tv series and movies that one person in the household watches, so that others don't have to scroll through everything to find the tv series or movies that are commonly watched by everyone. I was thinking there might be a way to create a new folder "Jane's TV" or "Joe's Movies" in the library so they can just select that folder of their content.

I am not familiar with Labels or Library Collections, but will search that out. I know that folders cannot be nested.

We used to use SageTV and it was great at that. It just looked at the directory and displayed what was in the folders. This system doesn't seem to directly read what is in the folder exactly. It will add files, but if something is deleted, it will not show it deleted, so we sometimes get a message that the file will not play.

One hot tip is that you can put movies and shows in Library Collections, then hide them with the Visibility feature.

They won’t show in the library, but will be available in the collection.

This is a great way to have weird content without it littering your library.
