Kodi Add-on

Coreelec is currently using the Amlogic 4.9 Linux vendor kernel. It normally uses the aarch64, but to my surprise this doesn't work with the hdhomerun PVR unofficial build, but the hdhomerun PVR armhf as timstephens24 found out (above) works perfectly on it, so thats what I am currently using. Coreelec is an alternate boot OS for the Android box and I know I could use the Android app if I boot into the primary Android but It is a pain to go back and forth since I use Coreelec on 3 boxes and am trying to have a seamless solution.

When I do this is doesn't connect. I have tried the IP and the IP:8089 and same result. When I use auto it says it is connected and "Channels DVR backend" in settings>system info, but shows channels:0 and recordings:0 and the guide doesn't load anything and is empty info. The hdhomerun PVR armhf version loads immed when I have it installed(i don't have the hdhomerun DVR just local channels). I do have "get channels from backend" ON, and I am not trying with both backends installed as I uninstall them as I am trying to troubleshoot.

Just the IP should be enough. You can look at the kodi log to see what's going on.

I think currently the addon always says connected no matter what.

@tmm1 I just started using Channels DVR and really like it so far but ran into an issue with my HDHR's not having channels in the guide. The Channels DVR 2019.10.29.0031 seems to ignore any channels on the HDHR tuners that have not been set to favorite. Is there a reason for this behavior? If not can you only filter out channels that are set to ignore and allow all others regardless of favorite status? Also, I am using the armhf Linux release on some devices but have some that are x86_64 and could not find a build for Linux 64 bit if possible can you add Linux-x86_64 to the builds, please.

I'm not sure what you mean. Where are they not shown? There is a favorites filter on the Guide tab you can change. The On Now tab only shows favorites. Are you talking about the DVR web UI, or one of the apps, or the kodi addon?

I need to know the exact linux distribution and version being used.

The channels were not shown in the guide even though the DVR UI said 87 channels. Ignore this my goof up it is working as intended. I was between so many things I was not paying attention to my selections guess I may need some sleep.

I have several Linux machines Libreelec, Ubuntu, Gentoo.

I have been using the unofficial HDHR DVR Client until I wanted to use the TVE feature you have and the linux builds work on all my machines.

Building the Linux versions with an older gcc like gcc 4.9 should make it compatible with most all distributions I think.

Is there something else that would be distro specific or dependent?

The version of gcc doesn't usually matter. What's important is the version of libc and the kernel. If a shared library is trying to use newer libc or kernel features, it won't work on older machines.

If the unofficial HDHR add-on works on all your linux machines then I can try to build it with the same toolchain.

Try this one: http://channels-kodi.s3.amazonaws.com/2019.11.01.2342/pvr.channelsdvr-linux-x86_64.zip

WOW, I did not expect that. Thank you working on the most important machine my desktop I will check others later.

Thank you!!

Just the IP works! Thank you. It didn’t work the first couple reboots but I came back to check the logs and it is now connected and sees the records and all the channels.

This is incredibly cool. I've never been a fan of the purple UI so having the ability to use channels in something where you can customize the appearance is great.

I've noticed a few issues so far on my Shield TV

  • Horrible playback quality for live TV
  • Recorded TV doesn't group by show and is all mixed into one folder which is labeled with a dot (.)

I have the same issue on my Shield too :frowning:

But it's soooo close

Try AEON MQ8. It is pretty advanced and has a very nice looking EPG.

Now that channels added the ability to import movie libraries, I'm seeing less value to running Kodi on top. For me, it only gives the ability to set a different skin color then the (IMO) ugly purple, but my desire for colors may be outweighed by the convince/features of using the native app.

@tmm1 I realize this add on is a work in progress and in an alpha state but can you get data refresh added when time permits? Example my box's are always on and only put in standby when not in use but add on is not refreshing data so new recordings do not show unless box is rebooted. Not sure of best method but maybe refresh every 15 min for recordings and every time playback ends or something similar. Something configurable in the add on configuration would be perfect and one for guide refresh also.

Latest release v2019.11.08.0005

  • FIXED: Add-on would always report "connected"
  • IMPROVED: Periodic update of timers and recordings
  • IMPROVED: Forced update of DVR data after waking up sleep

This is great!! Thank you. This plug-in is working great so far and once it can create timers and manually record, it will be almost perfect.

Wonderful! Thank you for the new release.

Bonus we can see timers now!

Question what is periodic update? Because I installed the addon but no data update after install so I rebooted and everything got updated. I then checked recording list and started watching a program then went to dvr web gui and started a recording and rechecked the recording list every 5-10 min but new recording is not yet in the list after 45 min so far but would have expected 2-15 min. Have only checked this on armhf.

Right now it is refreshing every hour.

I plan to add support for real-time updates in the future, like our other apps do. So you won't have to wait and new recordings will show up instantly.

In the mean time I can reduce to 15min if an hour is too long.

Yes if you wouldn't mind shorter time would be great or trigger on playback end. During primetime when several recordings are running and you are trying to watch a few of them would like to play the next one that is still recording or just finished. It's the wife factor.
