Just tried on my Nvidia Shield, and I have the same behavior.
Maybe this one will work better on Windows x64?

This is now the last error in the Kodi Logs:

You can record. But can you pause Live TV within the NextPVR client on Kodi?
What is the channels m3u and xmltv? Thanks.
edit...nvm I found it.
If it is being recorded, then you can pause live tv. Otherwise no.
I am not currently using NextPVR, but if you set the add-on to time shifting mode, I would think you should be able to pause live TV as well.
Thanks! Time shift should be default setting but it is now working.
Why did you stop using NextPVR?
My only issues now are some sources I can't get the guide xml's to work, and NextPVR doesn't distinguish between TV and Movies so I must manually move Movies to a different folder.
Pluto and Stirr with docker are working perfect, along with every US PBS station. I can't seem to get Spectrum-TVE working correctly. Not every channel shows up and I can't get guide data to work.
I may go back to it at some time, but while it made certain things easy (IE: using Kodi to manage recordings), the implementation sometimes was not complete, so if I created a rule in Kodi, but then wanted to edit it from the NextPVR console, it would break things (or could, depending on how the subscription was set up).
Ultimately, that meant I was forced to do everything through Kodi, which I didn't like.
With that said, I think they had the best Kodi integration of all the PVRs that I have tried.
I also use Plex server with the PlexKodiConnect add-on. Have you tried that combo? It may give you a bit more flexibility.
Ultimately, were you able to get all your sources and guide data working? I have only messed with this a few hours and if I know of any real roadblocks, it will save me some wasted time. Thanks again.
I use Emby as a back end. So, in my case, I use Channels to record live TV, which auto imports into Emby, and Kodi as a front end. I have various scripts that run to automate things, such as moving recorded TV to my TV Shows library after I watch it (and transcode it in the process), creating EDL files (which Kodi honors since I am direct playing the stream), extracting Closed Captions to srt files (for some reason I find that CC support in Kodi is hit and miss), etc.
These are the four xml links that I can't seem to get to work in NextPVR. The Hulu m3u (http://"my ip":8089/devices/TVE-Hulu/channels.m3u) seems to be detecting all my channels that are not disabled in Channels DVR.
http://"my ip":8089/devices/ANY/guide
http://"my ip":8089/devices/ANY/guide.xml
http://"my ip":8089/devices/TVE-Hulu/guide
http://"my ip":8089/devices/TVE-Hulu/guide.xml
Any help is appreciated!
The endpoint is /devices/ANY/guide/xmltv
. Or, if you just want a particular source, substitute its DeviceID/internal name for ANY
.
That was it! Thanks mucho.
@muzicman0 do you know if it is possible to have the Kodi NextPVR add-on, show recordings made through Channels DVR. Or do only recordings made with the NextPVR add-on show up under recordings (in the add-on).
I am trying to get the NextPVR add-on, to time shift a recording I had set in Channels as a series pass.
I can play the recording in Kodi with the PlexKodiConnect add-on, but since it is still being recorded, I don't get any time shifting features. Thanks again.
I never used Channels and NextPVR together, but I can't think of a way to do it. You may be able to use Watchdog (Kodi Add-on) to import the recordings into Kodi directly, but my guess is that it won't be seamless (and it won't show up in the Recordings section).
Thanks. I think that add-on will be about the same as PlexKodiConnect meaning no pvr timeshift functions.
I just noticed you can set up media watch folders, that might work. Will try later this afternoon.
My Kodi add-on comparison's as a PVR client.
NextPVR doesn't do the guide data as well as Channels DVR does, and doesn't seamlessly work with Channels DVR recordings.
Channels DVR add-on doesn't skip forward in time shift mode, and as of now (beta), you can't record shows or set timers.
If you could combine the best features of both add-on's into one Kodi PVR client, it would be near perfection. As individual clients, neither are ready for prime time as a Channels client.
For now I am going back to using the Channels web interface to set recordings and to play live time shifted TV shows, and use Kodi with the PlexKodiConnect add-on, to play all recordings that aren't live.
I tried this one on a Windows PC and it works. Is it still crashing on Windows for others?
