Live TV Playing In Slow Motion on Apple TV 4k

Sent a diagnostic log from my Apple TV 4k at 07:22 Eastern time. Will test iPad later this morning.

Edit: Tested on iPad and sent diagnostic at 10:25 Eastern time.

In both cases the sound stayed LIVE while the video was delayed.

@Vilkerath47 Please update to the Testflight beta and let us know if it improves anything for you.

You can join our TestFlight beta program by visiting Channels — Beta Program from an iPhone or iPad and then downloading the TestFlight app on your Apple TV.

I have been having the same issue recently, also on latest beta. It takes about an hour of staying on the same OTA channel, then start getting dropped frames (I think) and audio way out of sync. A channel change fixes it. I submitted logs at 10:02AM Pacific time in case it can be useful.

@azxd09 Your description is precisely what I experienced with the production release. Still that way with latest beta based on your tests. Interesting.

Tested live TV on my iPhone 16 Pro with iOS 26.4.1 and the latest production ChannelsDVR app 7.0.2 for 2 hours and the problem did NOT manifest itself.

Interesting. Glad 7.0.2 solves it for you. I can reproduce the issue with 7.0.2 on AppleTV with all OTA channels, seems like clockwork, right at the 60-70min mark of watching something live.

Thought it was just me. Experiencing the exact same thing. Will submit diagnostics next time. Takes about an hour to and hour and half to start experiencing the problem. AppleTV 4K tvOS 26.4. HDHomerun flex duo, direct stream.

Submitted diagnostics. 4/13 8:34am CST

Saw there was an updated beta this morning, so updated to 4.13.409. Still seeing the issue, all fine until just after 1 hour of constant live OTA. Submitted logs at 08:20AM pacific time.

Maybe a question for the devs, is there any chance something could be corrupted that would require a complete uninstall and then clean reinstall of the beta? Or do updates on ATV not work like that?

Please try the latest Testflight beta for more logging that will hopefully give us a lead on what's happening.

No, this would not be needed.

@azxd09 What did you see? I don't see anything bad in your logs.

The same dropped frames that start after ~70 min of continuous playback…assuming that’s the best way to describe it. I guess another way to describe it is it looks like it goes down to like 10fps, and the audio is way off too.

Please try this latest Testflight and submit diagnostics when it happens again.

Just now noticing frame rate decrease and audio out of sync. Submitting logs. 5:20pm CST. Newest Beta for ATV.

curious, do you have any HomePods, airplay or any type of speakers that are bluetooth or airplay? ive noticed that behavior happen often for a very long time, a quick seek back fixed the frame drop and audio most of the time, or worst case is to kill the app.

ive always see when connecting AirPods, the video skips ahead while audio catches up.

I think it might be the audio driver but I have no evidence, nor does it bother me too much anymore (you'll learn that with this software) and i doesnt happen anywhere else nor does it happen to me on a client without blu/airplay speakers.

just curious what type of audio output you guys have.

Probably not related to any wireless audio. I have one ATV connected via HDMI to a Yamaha receiver, and another connected via HDMI to a Sonos soundbar. And it's happening on both.

Also of note, one ATV is using ethernet and the other is WiFi, so I think we can eliminate network connection type as a possibility.

what about match frame rate and match content on the Apple TV and in channels? maybe its a EDID thing. I say that because ive seen a lot of display issues on my tv with QMS when changing frame rate and dynamic range.

try forcing one dynamic range and frame rate to see if it happens?

no idea, im probably chasing ghosts but who knows. :man_shrugging:
