I set up DVR option successfully and even watched some recording. I no longer see DVR option on ATV App. I restarted iMac and reconfigured on iMac. It says on iMac that set up is all good. I can also see listing of my recordings on iMac. However, on Apple TV, I no longer see Dvr option. I see new ATV version downloaded to 2.1.8 but this issue happened starting yesterday before this update.
Same issue here. Was working fine yesterday now “DVR” and “Recordings” are gone from menu on ATV.
Check that your servers are running. A bad build went out earlier this evening. It’s being worked on right now.
Read more and follow along here:
I logged on to Synology and it said it was stopped. Tried to start it and got error that said it was already running. Restated Synology and was able to start it but now all recordings and passes are gone :(.
Did you reinstall the SPK, or just reboot?
Did you have to re-enable DVR when it came back up?
What version of the DVR is running now?
Reboot. Acted like new install. Had to re-enable DVR and select channel listing. Current version says: 2017.01.14.0019
That’s weird. Can you reboot the Synology again, does it act like a fresh install again?
There are backups of your passes/recordings that you can restore via SSH. I will post instructions, but please verify another reboot won’t break it again.
Same issue here. Tried rebooting and then killing/restarting the server on macos. That didn’t work, so I reinstalled. Now I can’t access any of my recording and my passes are all gone. Any way to restore?
I have passes, but my schedule says “No upcoming recordings scheduled.”
Is that normal?
Guide data doesn’t seem to be updating anymore either. Can’t search for show that are more than 1 day in advance.
FWIW, it took a good 20-30 minutes for the full guide data to load when my DVR came back online. You can see the days loading on the activity listing on the settings page. Until that fully loaded the extended guide data and upcoming recordings weren’t listed.
Activity section just says idle.
Do you mean you deleted the old channels-dvr directory?
On reinstall did it come up as a fresh install again, and make you login?
Restoring data is possible, but currently a little cumbersome. I will write up some instructions shortly.
To restore, you need to copy two files over from the backups: recorder.db and settings.db
- shut down the dvr server
- run
./channels-dvr/uninstall.sh
- find the backup databases
- go to your recordings directory
- go into Database
- find the
backup-2017XXXXXdirectory from earlier today, before the upgrade
- copy the two files into
/Users/username/channels-dvr/data - start the dvr again
- run
./channels-dvr/install.sh
No I didn’t delete the directory. I stopped the service and ran: curl -f -s https://getchannels.com/dvr/setup.sh | sh
to reinstall the dvr. It came up as a fresh install.
It’s currently recording some new shows I just added but I will try to reboot again tonight. Will the SSH commands restore the old state and I’ll loose what it’s currently recording or will it combine the old database and current? All the files are still there but the ones recorded before tonight don’t show up under recordings.
It will not combine the data. You need to pick one or the other.
If you had run other commands before, it might have installed into a different directory. Can you check the log and paste the line that says “Starting Channels DVR …”
I seem to have a similar issue on QNAP. Can no longer go to the web interface. Had been working fine until this evening.
Hey everyone, we’ve posted a post mortem explaining what happened, and how to fix it.
It also has a link to a specific support thread just for this issue. Please continue posting there.
I’m going to close this thread for now.
