Season pass settings:
When I got home, I checked Channels DVR and it wasn't recording. It indicated some kind of authentication problem. Then the clock hit 5pm and I could no longer see the entry in the guide on Spectrum TVE 6199. I rescanned the channel and it mysteriously started recording after 5pm. I lost nearly all of the game.
Any developers interested in helping to solve missed recordings
I agree better reporting of missed recordings is needed.. i should not have to look through a log in WebUI to find why a recording failed.. SageTV has Instant messages that tells you why a recording failed as soon as you start a client.

The logs should indicate why a recording did not start. What did the logs show for when the recording was due to begin?
The logs are ok but If I am watching a recording or LiveTV and a recording fails Channels Should notify the user Instantly .. most times you only know there was an error when you go to watch the show and it is not there or failed.
Yes, some type of in-app notice would be nice. But there isn't one, and the OP was asking why a particular recording did not start on time.
I was merely asking for the relevant logs at the time the recording should have started, to maybe help offer insight as why it didn't. Complaining about features that are not present won't answer the OP's question.
But we all know that OPs issue has something to do with TVE authentication. For passes, it will be more reliable to record from your HDHR.
Agree but some kind of notification when it happens ... could lead to action being taken that could correct the problem and not lose the whole recording...or any subsequent recordings.
Yes, but the OP's implication is that the recording started when they weren't at the TV. A notification on the TV when a recording fails to start is pointless when the TV isn't on. Instead of bickering about features that don't exist, perhaps @Kryptonyte can share the relevant logs so their original question can be answered.
(If you feel strongly for the need of on-demand/push notifications for DVR errors, that is something that you can address in a feature request of your own; but let's try to keep the thread on topic.)
You basically answered your own question Channels experienced some kind of authentication problem with the TVE channel 6199.
We don't know what the error is because you didn't say or provide logs from the time the recording started so we could tell you.
I know that once a channel is authenticated, it only lasts for a numbar of days before it has to be re-authenticated. I run into that all the time with my Xfinity TVE channels. As Murphy's law would have it, it usually happens when a recording starts. I used to play a TVE channel Live the day it was scheduled to record something to make sure it worked, but sometimes that didn't help.
Just a few minutes after realizing that Channels DVR had missed a recording (a few minutes after the recording would have ended), I launched a web browser, logged in to the server, clicked on "Support > Troubleshooting" and then clicked on the "Submit Diagnostic Logs" button. The result of that was the code from my first post which I was under the impression would help the developers determine the problem, if the developers of a DVR software are interesting in pursuing missed recordings.
Maybe you could be interested in emailing support instead of a forum, you know, the way the prefer to handle support requests.
Or supply the information that every one here keeps asking you for.
Oh, and it’s the weekend. Do you work on the weekends? They’re probably hung over and/or taking their kid to soccer practice. I would imagine that developers of dvr software are also interested in living their own lives.
Hi. Now that the weekend is over, are there any developers that might have some input as to how to avoid missed recordings like this in the future?
I like to keep these conversations in the forum, where folks can see them, so if someone else has a similar issue in the future they might be able to resolve it in a similar fashion ... if it's something the developers are able to resolve.
While it's good to keep threads like that around so solutions can be found by other users, if you're going to post in a public forum, including your logs would also be of help. If you are only going to submit the logs and diagnostics to the developers so that they are the only ones that could help, then posting in the forum doesn't really serve a purpose.
By not including details and logs, you do nothing more than invite WAGs, and no one benefits. In fact, adding to the noise could almost be seen as a detriment. If you are serious about wishing your post to be helpful to other users in the future, then the thread really needs the logs.
So no developer solution then?
Thank you for the diagnostics. A fix is in the next prerelease. This issue was isolated to Spectrum + Fox Sports channels and only happens after 30+ days of initial authentication.
Thanks Aman. Is the BigTen network a Fox Sports affiliate?
Gotcha. One of the other users in this post mentioned that they have to go in and re-authenticate some channels before a recording begins. Should I set a timer on my phone so that I can remember to do this before my Fox Sports recordings, or is that operation better left to the software?
