Moved and now all sorts of DVR problems

ok so this may be all user error from my move, but since I moved (6 miles) and now I have my antenna back up in my new house with HD homerun, I now receive an error message "it doesn't look like this channel has anything available" on all channels. I have an antenna direct amplifier and antenna and they are pointed in the right direction according to my phone antenna app. The HD home run and Channels app both work (on phone) but my TV does not (running apple TV if that matters) All of this worked flawlessly in my old location so I am wondering if I did not hook something up correctly. Also, I find it odd that the Channels app does not receive any data in the guide (both on phone and TV app), I just have an empty menu. Any help would be appreciated, would like to watch the olympics.

thanks

I'm not familiar with this error. Can you take a photo or screenshot of it

sorry, too late, I cannot. I downloaded the guide on the Channels website so now I have a guide starting Feb 19th. I get video on all channels but not audio. Not sure why the video started working. I do get the attached error message when I get the video.

Sounds like a problem with the antenna. Did you check tvfool.com for where your new TV towers are and what kind of antenna you need and which direction it must be pointed in?

Sorry I see you did. Maybe try without the AMP though.

If it works on phone but not TV, that probably means the TV network connection is not good

not that specific site, i download an app from antennas direct and used that for placement. I can try that one too to see if it's different. It works on my phone though (audio and video).

when i watch a recorded show, the audio still does not work.

Does the official HDHomeRun app work on the Apple TV?

Do other apps have sound?

You could check inside Channels app under Settings > Playback > Advanced and change Audio Driver or Surround Sound

yea all other apps work, Netflix and the sorts. I will try HD home run app on Apple TV. good idea

switched audio driver to "experimental" and it works now

thanks i would have never figured that out

Are you using TV speakers? Airplay? Homepod? something else?

Either way, glad its working.

Home Pod via airplay, the menu told me to use experimental for airplay.

Can you tell me what version of tvOS is running on the Apple TV?

Not sure if this is relevant or will help, but the only times I've seen this error is when I select the "channel tile" (first column) in the Guide view for a Virtual Channel.

My assumption/hope was that I'd see the next 12 or so episodes that are queued up, so I could jump ahead and watch one (similar to how that screen displays for non-Virtual Channels.) But instead I see this:

Virtual Channel Chosen from Guide

Huh. I didn't know that screen existed in the app. Sounds like maybe OP had guide data missing and clicking on the fake row was doing this instead of launching the player. Definitely a bug so I will check it out.

It’s always been there and it only happens on virtual channels for me. It started when you guys added the upcoming cell for each individual channel.

yea that's what I got.

Hey Fofer. I am getting the same message, I just started with all this and I get most channels from my Dish subscription on an AppleTV. A couple days ago added a HDHomeRun Connect to get OTA channels. I can watch the OTA channels just fine but can't record anything on them. I get the same screen you pictured when I click on the Channel logo. There are shows in the guide so I can see what is coming but no option to record.
Can you record shows on the channels that give you this message?
Did you ever get an answer to your question?

Did you setup your HDHR Connect source by entering your zipcode?
