Native resolution and scaled resolution question

When playing most tv shows, and displaying the stats, I am seeing that both native and scaled are at 1920x1080. And when playing 720p video from TVE the Native shows 1280x720 with scaled at 1920x1080. However when playing a 4k movie, the
stats show Native at 3840x2160 with Scaled at 1920x1080

Is there down scaling going on? Or why are the stats showing that?

If this is on an android player past comments suggest that the info there is not correct and it is not being scaled down. If this is happening on Apple devices then that’s different because I think they report correct scaling info.

Scaled Resolution for 4k files

Running Channels directly on Sony X90J (Android TV) and have only just noticed when using Show Stats that 4K movies are always scaled to HD. They are also not listed as 4k files in their info in the Library (CC, 4K, Dolby Atmos etc). Native Resolution is 4k yet "Scaled Resolution 1920x1080" or lower Is there a limitation in the TV app? No issues at all when using the app on AppleTV 4K.

Thanks. I thought that I had seen that the stats display was not accurate if running it on Nvidia Shield Tv which is what I am doing. Could not locate it when I searched earlier. I really appreciate the explanation and response.
