Native Vega OS app for new Fire TV devices?

As Amazon has officially announced some of the new Fire TV hardware will no longer run AOSP-based Fire OS, will Channels work to port the existing FireOS app to Vega OS? It looks like their stopgap solution to appease developers in the short term for Vega devices will be to stream existing Android apps on the new devices but it’s unclear how well this will actually work with the functionality that apps like Channels provide (also it seems they will only front the AWS streaming infrastructure for 9 months). Thus I am just curious to know if Channels devs have played with Vega at all yet and/or if a native app will be in the roadmap at some point. It seems they will still be selling Fire OS based devices too at least for the time being so not sure if the long term strategy is to phase out Fire OS entirely at some point or not.

Channels DVR is the best software of its kind I’ve ever encountered and I’m super happy with it. Currently using about a dozen Fire TV sticks across my extended family so just thinking about the future once the current hardware ages out and it’s time for me to cycle them out. Thank you for any info you can share

We won’t be building a native app for Vega and we have disabled our app from being used via its cloud service.

Channels makes no sense to be used in their cloud based virtual compatability system. Additionally, the new Vega OS is designed for lower end devices.

We have no plans to expand to new platforms, and this is included.

Amazon has stated that they have no plans to stop releasing or supporting device with Fire OS.

Thank you very much for the quick response. This is the clarity I needed. Hopefully Amazon will indeed continue to produce Fire TV products on AOSP platforms as indicated.
