Love it! I like the new color scheme and favorites guide
p.s. the overall app seems more responsive also!
DVB guide data pulls through nicely for 7 days!

Freaking amazing update! This app just gets better and better!!! well done guys.

Incredible update! the guide is just perfect! very cohesive theme and well conceived integration.

Really Nice. Out of curiosity, could we get the option to toggle to the between Guide and previous style?

Cool idea, having both present at the same time seems pointless now. It would make it feel more like a regular cable box.

The new set up looks great! I have OTA TV set up on my connect device but I’m having problems with the guide data. When I first opened the channels atv app it only loaded info for two of my 7 favorite channels. Then after a bit I checked it and now it is showing guide info for all channels. But it’s only showing an hour of guide data for most and a couple channels have a hour and a half. On my iOS channels app it shows 4 hours worth of guide data. Not sure what the problem is.

Also, the default channel logo isn’t appearing in the top section of the guide on atv when there isn’t one for the program. The default channel logo does show up in the “On Now” section though.

I like the addition of the Guide. However, I prefer dark mode to be tied to the Apple TV Default. I switched to Dark Mode for a while and it was nice that Channels switched with it. But after a while I went back to Light Mode and it was nice that Channels Switched back. It would be nice to have some color options to choose from. I know it is nice to change it up but the old color scheme was really nice. Obviously a personal preference but I like the lighter easier to read UI.

Absolutely loving new grid guide and colour scheme - great job!

For me in the UK though Gracenote isn’t showing complete guide data. SiliconDust EPG is complete but inaccurate (as we know already for UK and with SD). DVB EPG is also complete and accurate.

But looking awesome nevertheless!

This is an awesome update it looks amazing. Having the grid is great.

Any plans to implement the grid from within the video player? Much like a traditional guide where the video shrinks down to a small square and the guide is below it. I know it’s tough because the mpeg2 streams are tough on CPU.

Now if you excuse me I have some beta testing to do

This is a fantastic update. Really like new guide tab and colors, very consistent with iOS version.

However, I would like to see guide more fully, as type filter is too dominant on left side.

Type filter should disappear once set, with ability to recall and change. Either a popup at top (like iOS) or left side click option.

I would suggest that the option for changing the favorites, sd, hd etc on the left side of the guide screen be changed a bit. I have swiped too far left and changed the settings a few times accidentally. Maybe put it in the options area instead? Or at the top?

I like the new grid guide but my wife likes the old way. Is there any way you could make it a toggle?

Also it would be nice for a current time to be shown on the grid guide page. That way you know if something is ending soon and you should be looking at what’s coming up.

Tim,

I really chuckled when I read that your wife likes Channels the “old” way.

Many postings I read in DVR forums state the need for the traditional grid guide for “WAF”, hence they won’t be changing until grid guide is added.

Too funny!

Great update! Performance is solid and everything seems to be much more responsive from clicks to animations.

My only unmarked checkbox left is the ability to navigate the guide overlayed on live TV, similar to the favorites guide. Windows Media Center did this very nicely as well back in the day.

Thanks again for all your efforts!! Much applauded!

Great work guys! One suggestion about a possible implementation of the guide. And please take this suggestion with a grain of salt coming from a guy who has no idea if this is possible, or if it is possible, how difficult it may be to program the functionality. With that said, here goes.

It seems a bit “jarring” to go to the guide and be taken completely out of the program you are viewing. I know a previous post suggested shrinking the video into a small window while the guide appears, but I have a different suggestion. What about if the guide appears “on top” of the video, but is translucent. Similar to how the favorites guide appears on the top half of the screen when you swipe down from the top. Maybe the guide could come in using the left to right swipe gesture.

Again, just a suggestion and not sure if it is possible, but thought this is the proper place to make a suggestion. Thanks again guys. Love Channels!

Latest beta makes it harder to do this accidentally.

Latest beta lets you see “All Channels” on the On Now tab.
