Pass recording same "Special" multiple times

Actually I think EP is Episode, SH is Show and MV is Movie.
TiVo used to use Gracenote data.

SH also gets assigned to a series episode if Gracenote doesn't have data on the Season/Episode number, Episode Title and summary description.

Title: America's Lost Vikings
SeriesID: 16472787
tmsId: SH031439940000
ProgramID: SH031439940000-1566806400
ProgramID: SH031439940000-1566810000

Series ID, I think is the key.

Here’s an example:

So I expect only the first to record.

Time will tell.
I should have my third recording of Building Off the Grid: Killer Views tomorrow night.
It already recorded one airing a few days ago and it's scheduled for two more airings tomorrow.

No worries, @tmm1 will be sure to correct me if wrong.

BTW: Killer Views do not re-air “same episode” (have Discovery - not DIY. At least in my setup) ... each is subtitled with a different sub-title..so, I will set up DIY to replicate yours tomorrow. Thanks.

Yes, see here

Wasn’t around back then...:grinning:

Correction: I was here, but didn’t follow Forum much.

DIY shows them both as specials and series episodes depending on the day and their mood I guess.
Discovery re-shows mostly just the series episodes, but once in awhile the special version (which is really the same as the series episode)

I expect that:

1 - will not re-record
2 - will record
3 - will record

Do you disagree?

P.S. It’s 3am here (est or edt)

All three of mine will record, not sure about yours.

G'nite, or morning :grinning:

OK, tbc later am/pm.

:innocent:

To let you know, I was unavailable earlier today, to even attempt adding DIY channel, rerunning guide and then setting the recordings on a Pass. All of which would be “first time” for me...anyway, so of course, all would record. Hence, no point in setting up on my mine (we probably have 2-3 hour diff and those entries, if I follow your screenshot..might possibly have required to me to set up by 6AM est/edt. Just “no”, too much pain, not enough gain. :grinning:

Also, to ensure that we are both are setting up with same parameters, first I have a few questions:

Can you screenshot your “new” Advanced Pass setup, so I do setup exactly as you have? If it’s not newly created, i.e., after your last screenshot posted...then I would have some additional questions (pre-post creation & what on that list (only 2 & 3 of the 4) you have “a prior recording still in Channels”, as 1 is recorded.

Also, since I do not have “any” previous recordings, our results will still differ, hence why I am “predicting” your results.

Hope this makes sense (as I’m not even going to re read before posting)

 I think we both require some sleep everyday.

OK, so sorta long story how I set this up.

I'd been recording Building Off the Grid for awhile on my cable Discovery channel since it's HD, but not all episodes make it to Discovery.

I found earlier this year it originates on DIY network, but my cable version of that channel is SD, not HD.
Anyway, there were a few episodes that ONLY appeared on DIY, so I recorded them in SD there.

Now that I have TVE, I get DIY in HD.

Building Off the Grid: Killer Views was one of those I only had an SD recording of from my cable DIY channel.

Since getting TVE installed I setup a Paused Advanced Pass to view all 'Title CONTAINS Building Off the Grid' on my TVE NAS.

(I have Channels DVR w/TVE on my old NAS and Channels DVR w/Prime tuner on my new NAS)

From that I noticed that Building Off the Grid: Killer Views was going to air on my TVE DIY channel, so selected it and created a Series Pass for it.

The first recording from that Series Pass was last Sunday.
Here are the remaining recordings the Series Pass has scheduled.

Here's how it looks in my Schedule

So just to make sure nothing interferes with this, I paused every pass, except for this one.
Here's how the schedule looks now, will post in about 30 minutes status of recording or not.

Recording again...

Third recording of this special is still scheduled to record later tonight...

Will post again after it records, again... :grinning:

Don't want anyone to get the wrong idea and think this is a bug to be fixed.
It's actually a useful feature.
If you want to record a one-off special and see it in the guide and click record, if the scheduled time for that airing changes it will not record it, hence the value in setting a series pass for it is that no matter what day/time the airing changes to, it will record it. Just gotta remember to cancel that series pass after you get a good recording of it :grinning: better than missing it in my opinion.
