Picture in Picture not working

Has been going on for awhile. On my iPhone it just shows a grey screen with spinning circle (but there is audio). Only happens with Live TV. Movies from my library that I’ve imported play fine.

What device and OS version

iPhone 15 Pro Max
IOS 26.1

Does work on my iPad mini 7, but it’s on 26.0

On my phone it briefly shows the image then goes grey with the spinning circle.

Upgraded my iPad Mini to IOS 26.1 (Release Candidate) and no issues there, so it's something only on iPhone. I know it's been happening for awhile now (across multiple IOS versions), just can't exactly recall when in started.

FWIW, I also have an iPhone 15 Pro Max running iOS 26.1. I can start start viewing a live program from the guide, swipe up to do something else like look at my email, and go back to the Channel app to browse the guide or my recordings, and PiP seems to work fine and keeps playing in a PiP window when I perform those tasks.

I’m also having issues with PIP totally disappearing on iPadOS while audio continues and no way to get it back short of killing the Channels app and restarting the video. This happened multiple times this evening. Very frustrating…

What Video Driver do you have selected in the app?

I've tried with both Default and Legacy, same issue. If I go from PIP back to full screen, the video shows properly.

One thing that is interesting is the video briefly appears in PIP (for maybe half a second to a second), then shows a grey screen with a spinning circle while audio continues to play. It also only happens with live channels, not other videos.

I’m using the default audio and video drivers.
