If you don't want to go the docker route, you can try the Windows installer.
Yeah, but it doesn't proxy, and so you're hitting the 24 hour timeout on the session since it's sending out full authenticated urls to Channels.
In short, you really should just move on to one of the other projects. maddox/pluto-for-channels is pretty much over.
And if you're going to go the docker route, I highly recommend KineticMan's FastChannels - FAST Channels aggregator/manager which will allow much more than just Pluto from one docker container.
Thank you for kick-starting this idea and laying the ground work.
This setup doesn't work any longer, does it?
Any issues with the current implementation? Can't seem to get any Pluto channels to start streaming. Restarted the container and looked in logs and it keeps saying stream limit reached, but currently there is only one thing being played and it is not off of Pluto. I have 4 Tuners add as sources. @maddox is there anything you are aware of that would be preventing the stream from starting with the current implementation?
Just 4 posts up from yours...
With the current state and it seems Maddox doesn't want to re-invent the wheel to make it work, I think you should move onto Fast Channels as that is being actively maintained. It also gives you a ton more options. It has a lot more setup upfront as well, but mainly it is done inside the app.
I just installed KineticMan's version on my Synology and it really does work well to stream on more than one device without need to setup multiple sources in Channels. Also, can use my own channel number sequence as before.
Ruh Roh (Yes I'm copying Scooby-Doo), looks like they started adding drm to some pluto tv channels. Stories by AMC is one of them.
I don't know if it's just me but the link does not work.
I didn't want to dox myself so I took out the rest of the link it has clientid and other stuff attached to it.
This link does work otherwise it would be giving you a 403 instead of a 401. Plutotv is adding widevine drm to their stations. I found another one on tv land drama channel.
I've been expecting this since they announced the "single platform" for Pluto and Paramount+.
This project is now archived. Due to how Pluto streams work with authentication, this project's architecture just does not scale appropriately for multiple stream needs.
You should migrate to the FastChannels project instead which handles authenticated Pluto streams better in that it supports multiple streams with a single authentication and a single source added to Channels.
Additionally, it supports more Pluto channels and locales. It also supports a TON of other FAST channel services.
Because the Channels DVR developers have taken a stance to condone these secondary developers, can we assume that you will roll this into the native Channels DVR software?
Pluto for Channels was never a first party or technically supported project from Fancy Bits.
It's something I made and contributed as a proof of concept for Custom Channels. It was no different or more official than anything else our community has contributed.
Also, I don't know what you mean by "taken a stance to condone these secondary developers".
That sounds like you're using "secondary" as a pejorative and I take complete offense to that.
We've welcomed community involvement from day one with Channels. We built Custom Channels as an integration point FOR community contributions.
It's just these types of projects that it was built for, so that the community can have these types of things. Things we don't have time for or the ability to maintain, while maintaining the core Channels product.
Don't take offense - this user just appears to be special: Cannot tune Fox Sports 1 from YTV - #46 by Kryptonyte
Thank you for keeping it going for this long and helping the community. Your efforts were much appreciated.
