Possible to exclude channel(s) from Series Pass? (foreign language recordings)

Is it possible to exclude one or more channels from a season pass? I see options on the Advanced Season Pass page to add a “Channel ==” condition, but “Channel !=” isn’t listed.

Devs, if this is not currently possible, please consider this a formal feature request

Can you elaborate on what channel you’re trying to prevent recording from and why?

I currently have a Season Pass setup to record all the CONCACAF Gold Cup matches (see screenshot). It works as expected and indeed records all the matches. The problem is that it also records the Spanish language broadcasts on both Unimas and Univision, so I get three recordings for each match, two of which I do not want. I know I could disable these channels in the tuner config, but that's undesirable as I do occasionally wish to watch programming on these channels.

It's not a big problem as I have plenty of disk space, but it would be nice to be able to exclude these two channels from the pass.

I wonder if it would be possible to use a tag to only record English language broadcasts? Is there a list somewhere of what tags are available? Or what tags are associated with a recording?

In the interim you could add a limitor for channel # (or 2 advanced passes - channel #1 and channel #2 - if there are 2 English speaking stations being broadcast)

Thanks for the suggestion, @DebbieFL. I have considered this, but I would have to add at least four different passes, and that may or may not cover it…so far the matches have been on at least four different channels (Fox, FS1, FS2, FXX) and I don’t know if there will be any other channels that could be used for future matches. It would be more efficient to be able to exclude the two channels on a single pass, instead of having to explicitly add four or more different passes for the different channels, and risk missing a recording if it’s on a different channel.

Good additional info. If I had the similar situation, I would rather have the option of excluding Channel #3 (and Channel #4, etc.), rather than a tag limitor. I think your exclude suggestion would be useful in more situations.

Thanks for the example.

I will fix the guide database to stop combining different language renditions of the same show into one, so you can setup a series pass for only the one you want.

Awesome, thanks!

Can you snap a pic of your current Schedule tab, showing the duplicate upcoming games? Is each game being recorded twice (one english, one spanish), or more than two times?

Here's an example of the matches scheduled for tomorrow (Sat). I've manually skipped the ones I do not want...

Thanks.

Here’s an experimental build with the guide data change:

curl -XPUT http://127.0.0.1:8089/updater/check/2017.07.15.0217

After updating, click the refresh circle on Settings tab of web UI (next to HDHR guide data) and it will refresh next 5-7 days of data.

Afterwards you should see Schedule no longer showing duplicate spanish language recordings for the next few games. Please let me know how it works out.

Cool. I’ll test it out. I’ve got some recordings going right now so it will be a bit before it installs.

FYI, this is running on FreeNAS, and apparently FreeNAS jails don’t have curl installed by default. I had to manually run “pkg install curl” before I could run the command.

Initial results look good. I no longer have any Spanish language airings showing on the Schedule page. I’ll continue to monitor. Thanks again for this.

I see this was added to the latest version:

DVR 2017.07.17.0243

  • IMPROVED: Series passes will no longer record foreign language versions of a show.

I’m now seeing many instances where new episodes are not being marked for recording when they should be. A good deal of my recordings for the week have been cancelled, and the log has entries “Deleting job with expired serial”. I’m not sure if this is coincidence or a result of the update. Log is below.

Possible I broke something…

If you search do airing show up?

If I go into the pass under ‘Find airings’, episodes don’t show up. If I go to the Search tab, I get 2 listings for the same programme: one that is marked as my series pass but is empty or only has a handful of airings, and another that shows the airings as expected.

What are the urls when you click on each result?

Can you right click to “copy link address” on the duplicate show that’s not marked as recording?

This is the URL for the one that’s marked as a Series Pass but not showing airings:

http://localhost:8089/admin/search/273696?q=Panorama&seriesName=Panorama

And this is the URL for the one that’s not marked as a Series Pass but is showing the airings:

http://localhost:8089/admin/search/273696-en-GB?q=Panorama&seriesName=Panorama

Perfect thanks.
