Hi Aman,
I just e-mailed you.
Hi Aman,
I just e-mailed you.
If I knew what to look for I could certainly help out.
Hi Aman and others in this thread. After a week of work on this and a TVision subscription (1 day) followed by a Telco with a a senior level 3 tech at T-Mobile I can report the following (no slings and arrows please) I can say TVE works even though I donāt have a TVision account it just doesn't work as a service provider like Hulu or Philo. I am going to run down what to do and those of you who do have TVision can give it a try and reply if it works. The reason and the problem is that T-Mobile though in the TVE provider list, they support TVE but are not a Provider. Confused, you shouldnāt be the answer is in the login error āCable provider authentication failedā. This is why I dropped TVision after a day Iāve seen this before. This is telling you TVision is not a Provider, it does not mean they donāt support TVE. I could be wrong on this but those of you can test this by performing the following example. The answer to this is also available on the TVision support site, Iāve included the link below. I chose this from the TVision support link since it shows the sequence clearly. Here goes -
1- Open your browser.
2- Copy and paste this URL as provided by T-Mobile into your browse and launch.
https://www.hallmarkchanneleverywhere.com/
3- Click sign in, then click on lower right scroll down.
4- Scroll to T-Moble and enter tyour T-Mobile sign in.
5- You might get 2FA here (Remember I donāt have TVision)
6- You should be able to click on the added content. At this point Hallmark IS the
provider ie. server.
7- At this point you are seeing Hallmark via TVE (I hope) reply if yes.
This is all covered in the T-Mobile link below in the 1st 4 numbered lines. FYI this is how T-Mobile will work now and in the future per my call. I hope this works so you can see whats going on. As for me Iām leaving TVision off for the moment till someone more clever than I can get it running as a server!

PS Did the above from my Philo account and it worksā¦ā¦ā¦
I had the same problem with T-Mobile. Oddly, I got in once, then after that, the 2FA authentication error. I can use TMobile to log into individual sites--but not with channels. It seems to be waiting for an authentication that I never see. Philo, Vidgo, and Fubo work great.
Bill-M,
Disregard that error message as it was the same error message we were getting with Hulu Live when they changed their authentication process...
The bottom line is Hulu Live was then and is now a "provider" it is just that Channels was not able to complete the login process so the "authentication failed"...
I just switched from Verizon to T-Mobile and I would love to get T-Vision if the authentication issue can be resolved...

With all due respect the error message is relevant. The bottom line is this, TVision requires the relevant Device APP to Activate. Once you complete Device Activation it is the APP via handshaking your info which launches TVision. The APP and launch code are proprietary and owned by T-Mobile I believe. Furthermore as I stated and I quote "TVision is not now or anytime soon going to be available as a separate streaming APP" per T-Mobile. This not an authentication issue, this is performed by the Device Specific APP.
I like you wish it was somehow available separately since for me it has the best programming blend around, personal preference.
Iām not sure if Iām missing something, or if my understanding of what you are saying is lacking, but this is 100% an authentication issue, and not specific to the T-Mobile app (unless youāre using APP as an acronym I am not understanding). Currently Channels is unable to handle 2FA when establishing TVE credentials, but this is something T-Mobile is requiring. T-Mobile does offer the option of only requiring the 2FA once, and then using a cookie is able to store that information such that future TVE authentications are seamless (although I donāt know how long that cookie will remain valid). Even though no one on here seems to have 2FA enabled on their phone accounts, it appears T-Vision requires it independently of the phone account settings. Until/unless there is a work around regarding this, it will not be possible to use T-Vision with Channels.
Hi Bill-M,
Thanks for your efforts and reply to the community. Much appreciated. I now have a question about your post.
Once I authenticate to each of the T-Mobile TVE channels I am authorized to (for my particular subscription level), would I then be able to set up T-Mobile as a source within Channels AND expect to gain access to these channels for recording and viewing without having to authenticate again during the Channels source set up process?
If not, I might consider this a temporary work-around but not quite the long-term solution I was hoping for. The idea is to be able to use Channels as one cohesive place to pull up ONE Guide w/ DVR and commercial-skipping capability for all the channels I subscribe to. It was never my goal to have to go to different apps on my AppleTV to access all TVE channels that I subscribe to but, for some reason, can suddenly no longer seamlessly authenticate to vis Channels DVR Server. This used to work just fine when T-Mobile first introduced TVE capability. However, it suddenly stopped properly sourcing/authenticating a few weeks ago without notice after T-Mobile changed something about 2FA (we think) on their end.
Short answer is no. The authentication is done at the program (browser) level vs machine level, so running the Channels DVR is separate from your running Chrome or whatever browser you use on your server.
Short answer no, I've tried. I don't have Apple but I do have Windows 10 and 8, Linux, and Chromebook. You appear to have experience. In my previous reply you'll note I referred to Device Specific APP. As you know that means the APP is a program not a pointer as others seem to think which is the only reason I did the original post to aid newcomers to Channels. I'm not Channels simply a happy user. Any one that thinks 2FA is the reason they can't access TVision should contact T-Mobile. At this point in time TVision IS NOT available as a streaming provider.
Your efforts are right on but alas there's no workaround I can find. Good luck!!
It absolutely is NOT an authentication issue. Before you subscribe to TVision initially you must have an APP installed (I'm not going thru this again). When you launch the APP via activate you will notice you are at different URL. Once you complete your info and continue to TVision you have no idea, nor should you, at what IP the APP is taking you. Any future attempts to launch TVision via the TVE login will be futile for now and the future. Please re-read what I wrote, It's all there as far as I know! Please forget 2FA problems, you can't get there from here!
I have T-Vision. Currently using TVE on my computer. No app. Requires 2FA.
Lordy, what a thread!
Since T-Mobile has changed to the 2-page/2-entry form of login, I noticed that Channels' code for data entry is incompatible.
Hope my photo is showing...
As I point out in the image, only the FIRST page of T-Mobile's login is filled and submitted.
Shouldn't there be TWO "fill_form" lines of code... one for login (phone number) and a second for the password, THEN the "wait_for_auth" line?
Are you running TVision from Channels? If so great work! How do you do this? You will certainly be helping a lot of people.
Unfortunately no. Just going to individual websites that include live streams. I guess my point being I can use TVE w/o an app; TVE works fine using T-Mobile credentials via 2FA, which your posts suggested (at least to me) you could not do. Iām hoping this can be resolved by the Channels devs, as the package offered by T-Mobile is about as competitive price/feature wise as any of the services Iāve seen, but I understand if it isnāt possible and will likely cancel my T-Mobile subscription if that is the case.
Hi TX-MOFO: Great catch! I'm not at programmer level but can certainly understand what you are explaining and it seems quite logical to me. Looking forward to a reply from tmm1 or another Channels Developer for further insights on this. If this can be fixed on Channels side of things then I can take steps in near future to close ticket with T-Mobile. Alternatively, perhaps T-Mobile could change my account (and other folks' accounts) back to 1 page format so Channels doesn't have to lift a finger.
Gives me hope either way - some progress in troubleshooting root cause of problem.
BTW - has anyone on this thread gotten Channels TVE Beta to work with their T-Mobile account as of this hour?
Thanks again for all your efforts and comments on this thread. Agreed there have been a ton of them!
Seems things are changing a bit for me on this issue. I now get a text message from T-Mobile asking me to enter the T-Mobile ID verification code provided into the prompt that appears when I try to add the T-Mobile source to my Channels DVR Server. Unfortunately, the Channels DVR prompt is just a screenshot so I can't enter the verification code. Would an expert with Channels (not a user) care to comment or provide insight as to whether this can be fixed so that I can at least enter the verification code T-Mobile has provided via text to my phone? If so, I suspect this sourcing / 2FA problem can get resolved and I can begin using TVE again on my T-Mobile TVision TV service. If I could enter the verification code and leave the radio box checked that says "Yes, remember this device" perhaps this would be only a 1-time verification that has to occur and I (we) could move on from this fiasco!
Just for kicks, I tried connecting to the Channels DVR server directly from my iPhone (instead of my Mac) and tried to add the T-Mobile Source to my Channels DVR server. It took a long time for the "Let's Confirm It's You" prompt to appear but when it did, I still could not enter the newly supplied T-Mobile ID 6-digit Verification Code that T-Mobile sent to me via text message. If I could enter the supplied code (on my phone or on my Mac), I might be able to get past the 1-time need to verify that it is me trying to authenticate my account with Channels TVE. Would this be something that Channels tech team is willing and able to troubleshoot and fix?
3/07/2021: Today I tried again. This time I received yet a different message when attempting to add T-Mobile source to my Channels DVR. This time, the screen pops up at the "Log In" page with my proper e-mail address but says "Cable provider authentication failed". I can't get beyond the pop-up although there's a non-operational button "NEXT" displayed. It also says "Sorry, something you entered does not match our records. Please try again."
Would this be something that Channels tech team is willing and able to troubleshoot and fix?
I don't think developers are following this thread.
No one has replied to any of the two emails I sent them, either.
Try "flagging" this or any other post to see what happens.
I guess I might be dropping Channels as I am leaning toward TVision and since it is not supported and there are no plans to support it then I will find something else... I can save $30/month by switching to TVision...
