Provider - Xfinity

I’m using the secondary viewer only account with 2fa disabled. I have to assume that discovery uses a different auth path. It doesn’t make logical sense to me, why some channels work while others don’t if auto authenticate on the main account is the true culprit.

While the Xfinity auto-auth setting can only be changed from the Primary user account, the setting applies to the Primary user and all sub user accounts. As explained in their FAQ article I posted, it doesn't work with all networks, but they don't say which ones do or don't (certain ones, only some). I just quit arguing with that fact and turned it off when I was having issues, which has worked for me.

@chDVRuser thanks. I should have quit trying to fight/understand it aside sooner. I was able to turn it (auto authenticate) off with the link you shared and walla! I can get back into tnt now.

This is kinda confusing ... Why would you not want Auto Authentication while at home ?

As a matter of fact I never turned it off and have access to more channels.

Anyone else getting authentication failed when trying to connect to xfinity? I was trying to setup on latest stable release but failed. Tried on latest beta, failed as well.

Have you tried these?
TVE Troubleshooting tips

more than what?
Hey, whatever works for you.

Yes.

Ahh, OK. Didn't see where you said you submitted DVR diagnostics.

Ya, I ended up submitting to support after my original post. Hope I can get this working again. Thanks.

Just my 2 cents. I wouldn’t expect this to be a step everyone takes. It was the last thing I tried and mattered for my specific setup relative to a set of channels (tnt and nbc).

Updated the tip posting

I have the same issue. Just started within the past day or so. I submitted diagnostics as well.

I also have done all the troubleshooting

Not sure if support fixed something on their end (never got reply from support) or if it was a xfinity issue, but a few hours later mine started working.

Funny same here. Another update came out since I updated this afternoon. Did that update and seems to be working now. Xfinity login is so sensitive!

I just added Xfinity as a source and had it fail the first two tries on the initial NBC auth with
Auth failed for Comcast_SSO: not in subscription
This was with me logged into my Xfinity account in one browser tab and also streaming from nbc/live.from another tab at the same time I was trying to add it.
I opened the dvr web UI using secure https and that third try succeeded
:man_shrugging:

Looks like xfinity is acting up again. I am suddenly getting not authorized messages for channels that worked previously. I tried to readd xfinity as a TVE resource. It looks like authentication worked, but the channel scan is failing to find channels that I can normally watch previously and through the web browser directly.

For example AETV fails the scan:

However, I can access Live TV | A&E just fine with the same xfinity credentials. I just updated to the prerelease version of DVR and I am still seeing the same issues.

This is usually due to auto authentication

Individually hitting rescan for the failed channels does seem to work.

I'm also seeing these errors/warnings in the log.

I am not sure if that is affecting authentication.

If I’m having problems with TLC channel pixelization any recommendations. I have a couple recordings to show the issue. No issue with authorization.
