That error is coming from Xfinity and means what it says.
Does it work for you on Watch the NBCUniversal Networks Live Stream - NBC.com or on https://www.xfinity.com/stream/
If you're using an Xfinity login from another service address, then you would need to make sure Auto-Authentication is disabled on your internet service account.
NBCUniversal says I need to add this.
Xfinity stream works fine.
So I guess I should call Xfinity.
They sent a reset signal and all appears to be working again.
Thanks for the quick reply as usual! You guys are AWESOME !!!
I am unable to authenticate my Xfinity account via Channels - I keep on getting an error with a screenshot of a login page. I'm using a sub-account without 2FA. Any thoughts? I've updated to the latest pre-release version as part of my troubleshoot.
Can you watch your local NBC station here using the same username and passowrd?
Yup, no issues on the NBC stream through their website with Xfinity login or on the xfinity stream site.
EDIT: My Channels server is installed on a QNAP NAS. For troubleshooting, I just tried installing the server on Windows and adding Xfinity TVE worked, so looks like the NAS installation is the issue.
Try the Troubleshooting menu selection on the NAS and see if it shows any errors.
DVR web admin Support > Troubleshooting
All green checkmarks I also disabled the QNAP firewall and antivirus in case they were interfering, no luck.
My suggestion, if you want it on the QNAP, is to click the Submit Diagnostic Logs button at the bottom of that Troubleshooting page so the developers can help you.
Will do -- thank you!!
Exact same issue as @sumothergup - using account without 2FA, streaming works fine when directly logging in to any of the services, error is a screenshot of a login page. I'm using channels on Synology - tried via both Safari and Chrome, no difference. In my case, it was an addblocker running on my router (eero) - disabling the addblocker fixed the login. If you look in the logs (excerpt below) you can see some of the sites being blocked - in case you have the same problem.

This is what it looks like when attempting to log in.

Hello! I frequently have channel issues where I lose some channels or have to rescan them all and it doesn't pick them all up, and have found that firing up the VPN provides the best results for an all channel scan, and individual scans. It'll pull in different locals, so disable the VPN and individual scan the locals. I don't know if this will help with the login issues.
I'm in the same boat. I also have Xfinity TVE. I'm getting lots of timeouts just like this log. @tmm1 - Any ideas? Thanks!

Same issue here. Cable provider authentication failed
Gave up after trying everything I could think of for two days (except for clockwise rotating handstands).
Ended up with 3 locals and 7 Fox network channels.
Everything else except the free channels errored out.
I'm thinking the Xfinity auth system is broken.
And today it decided to work. All channels came back.
Many channels are authorizing for me today as well, but still many are timing out. I’ve had some success authenticating individually, but still can’t authenticate most of the sports channels. All the ESPNs, NBC Sports etc. they have all authenticated in the past.
I gave up trying to force things as I just get frustrated. If it doesn't work and I'm on the latest pre-release, I just wait a day and try again. Try to individually rescan the missing channels tomorrow.
