Record hd not sd

Is there a way to set the DVR to only record hd streams for passes?

There may be another methodā€¦ but for me the easiest was to use the web interface for the tuner (for the Prime/Extend/Connect) and disable all the SD version of the Channelsā€¦ The software(channels) honors the favorite/disabled list on the tuners so it will only show/record HD.

The DVR will prefer HD channels over SD. If you see otherwise, please let us know.

Seeing otherwise, it shows for multiple shows schedule that itā€™s recording the ad version i.e. Top chef channel 66 but when I click to pass it says top chef 66, 652. It already recorded the sd version once today

Thanks for reporting! Will fix for tomorrowā€™s build.

This has been fixed. The channels should be listed HD first.

One of the reasons I usually like to disable the SD on the web interface or application if possible is because I have run into the situation (especially on AMC/AMCHD and TNT/TNTHD) where a show is scheduled at what seems to be the same time slot (example 8:00pm timeslot, but really starts at 8:01 on the HD channel and 8:00 on the SD channel. The guides have the info correct. The DVRs start recording the SD version and most will see the show/episode as already being recorded/exists and ignore the HD version)

Yeah I have though about doing that, another solution for my cable lineup would be to add a rule that the channel > 100. I sometimes use the SD channels if I want to watch over wifi in the yard.

Looks like this is still broken for some users. The DVR assumes higher channel numbers are HD, which is not always true. Will fix for next build.

This still seems to be an issue for me for quite a long time.
I tried adding the Tag option under advanced for the pass to HDTV, but then it removes the Tag = New. So this option does not work.

It also is not an option to manage the channels from the HDHR Prime tuner to disable channels. I have 6 prime tuners, and it should just be something to easliy to manage on the DVR itself.

One workaround is to use Tag == New and Tag CONTAINS HDTV, so you can use both at the same time.

However, I would like to understand where youā€™re experiencing this bug. As mentioned above, the DVR always prefers the HD channel when it goes to make a recording.

Are you seeing instances where standard-def recordings are being made? Can you share more details like the channel name and whether its airing on both HD and SD channels at the same time?

Will try your suggestion.

I am seeing a log of sporting events being recorded in SD, when they were also broadcasted in HD on the appropreate channel.
One example is NASCAR Racing, and NFL Football.
I did have another strange issue were the DVR though FOX was on a strange 1000+ channel but it wasnt FOX, so i have only that option to disable the channel to allow recordings to start again.

Right now NASCAR is recording on channel 37, when it is also in HD on channel 720, chanel callsign is NBC Sports Bay area.

Can you check the logs from when that recording started? It should state the channels it was considering and if it had errors tuning to the other alternatives.

I added the tag workaround as suggested. But it does not show the secondary just added tag of Tag CONTAINS HDTV, only list the Tag = New.

Would rather not have to do that for the series Iā€™m having issues with.

Might just be related to some sport ones. I havenā€™t seen it too much on standard TV show series for a while. But I do record a lot, so it takes me quite a while to get through things.

Well I guess if i looked in the logs more closely myself, I would have found the issue.

It tried starting the recording on channel 720, but it got a 503 error. Now the question is how to solve that issue.
Any suggestions?

503 is the generic error from the HDHomeRun. If your firmware is up to date, it should provide a more detailed message.

You can check your HDHRā€™s System Log on the web UI to see if it has more details there.

Here is the log from the HDHR tuner that it tried first.
Still quite vauge, but i do need to update my firmware. I am just very cautious about doing that since they have been rather stable for so long thus far. (aside from the current problem). I only recently switched to using CDVR due to my WMC setup dies and i needed to set something up quickly.

What are you thoughts on this log data?

Looks like the error is ā€œno video dataā€. Thatā€™s the same thing the tuner sends to us via newer firmware.

The only time Iā€™ve seen that error is using an antenna with a really bad signal. Strange to see it over cableā€¦ maybe the lineup changed and you need to re-scan?

Are you able to watch that channel in the app?

Will try watching the channel when i get home. Packing up to head home now. Channel lineup may have changed. How frequently do channels get re-scanned if it is automatic?
I thought data sent to the cable card of what the channel lineup is and when ever it gets changed. And not actually have to scan for channels.

Iā€™ll report in when i get home
